Up until December 7, 1941 the United States had never been invaded on U.S soil before. This day changed that, with the invasion of the Japanese troops bombing Omaha beach with numerous bombing runs,
and finally storming the beach taking over the town leaving us at the low ground while the U.S had the low ground getting mowed down one boat after another thousand of U.S troops died staining the ocean red with there blood. This bombing on pearl harbor immediately put the U.S into WW2. With the quick wit of F.D.R we were able to react fast enough to have half the casualties we would have if we waited any longer.
The amount of casualties and destruction could have been avoided if the officer on the clock didn’t make as many errors as they did. They missed clear signs of an attack that were just brushed off as something else. For example: There was a submarine in the waters to the entrance of Pearl Harbor and America didn’t know who it belonged to so they shot at it. Then the ward sends a message to the Navy headquarters. Next there was about 50 unidentified planes that were heading toward Hawaii, and they report it to the headquarters but it took a very long time to process. The lieutenant ignores the report because he thought they were just picking up the flight of U.S. B-17 Flying Fortress Bombers that were head to Hawaii from California.
With F.D.R and his success as a president he was able to be the rock that the United States needed. He was the martor of this wonderful nation. He even worried about how Germany might attack the United States.
