According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, intimate partner violence affects more females than males and is considered as the number one cause of injuries in women ages 15 to 44 (76%) compared to males (24%) (Truman & Morgan, 2014). Intimate partner violence (IPV) can happen in any relationship including same sex and transgender relationships. IPV starts with emotional abuse and may advance to physical or sexual battering. Dove is the only domestic violence organization in Norfolk County which includes shelters, and also serves the greater South Shore. The website is very instructive and easy to use. Dove has a 25 bed shelter to assist victim and their families. the agency also provides education, emergency shelter, and assists those in need with legal matters as well as providing support groups to help victims.
