I choose to write an informative essay about obesity in America. The essay is written for a general adult population in America to inform them of the situation. This essay is made to inform because American adults should understand the facts of why obesity is caused and what are the affects of it, instead of being pursued or entertained about a very serious topic.

Obesity has gotten much worse now in the 21st century than in the past. According to The American Heart Association “Nearly 70% of American adults are either overweight or obese.”(Obesity Information). The article acknowledges that adults are overweight instead of being at a healthy weight; causing obesity to turn into a widespread epidemic in the United States.
As read in the article Obesity Information “More than one-third (about 35%) of U.S. adults are obese (more than 78 million adults).” The article asserts that a huge percentage of adults are obese in America more than 78 million adults is the number of American adults that are at high risk of having health complications. Obesity brings complications to the body, such as Coronary Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Stroke, Type 2 Diabetes, Abnormal Blood Fats, Metabolic Syndrome, Cancer, Osteoarthritis (What Are the Health Risks of Overweight and Obesity?). Those are the health risks that many people that are obese are facing and not only are they caring a horrible disease in their bodies but also their life expectancy is slowly decreasing.
