Slavery was one of the most leading events that led up to the civil war. Considering the fact that the South had the most slaves and the population was so held on slavery, it was a huge advantage for the South and a disadvantage for the North. Considering the fact that slavery was an issue for some and a lot of people liked it and a lot of people did not. An example of this of this dislike of slavery, was John Brown, his slave uprising in Virginia. There was a lot of violence that were involved, including hangings, shootings, and killings. (Doc. 6) In addition, the violence was so bad that politicians were physically fighting. It included, a pro slavery man and an anti-slavery man. Many of the fights led to more violence across the nation. (Doc. 8) Furthermore, escaped slaves even wrote about the horrifying nightmares of the violence. “This is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices more shocking and bloody than are the people of the United States, at this very hour.” (Doc. 4) This was one of the most horrifying events that led up to a nation
