A common form of cancer are formed by epithelial cells. Carcinoma that begins in epithelial cells have different names like,
Adenocarcinoma : It is a cancer that forms in epithelial cells that produces fluids or mucus. Most types of cancers like breast, colon, prostate are adenocarcinomas.
Basal cell carcinoma : It is a cancer, that begins in lower layer ( basal / base layer ) of the epidermis, which is the person's outer layer of the skin.
Squamous cell carcinoma : These cancers are formed in the squamous cells, which are epithelial cells that lies just beneath the outer surface of skin. These squamous cells line the outer side of the organs, including stomach, bladder, kidney, lungs, intestines. They are also called epidermoid carcinoma. …show more content…
They are usually found in the linings of the bladder, ureters, and renal pelvis ( kidneys ) and few other organs. These form of cancers are called transitional cell carcinomas.
Sarcoma : They are cancers that are found in bone, soft tissues, fat, blood vessels, lymph vessels, fibrous tissues. Osteosarcoma is the most common cancer of bone.
Leukemia : Cancers that begin in the blood forming tissue of the bone marrow cells, are called leukemias. They are abnormal white cell growth formed in blood and bone marrow. Due to which there is a low level of oxygen flow to the tissues, control bleeding and infections etc.
Lymphoma : These form of cancers begins in the lymphocytes ( T and B cells ), which are formed in lymph nodes and lymph vessels. Two main types of lymphoma are seen ; Hodgkin lymphoma, and non Hodgkin lymphoma.
Multiple Myeloma : These cancers begin in plasma cells, build up in the bone marrow and form tumors in bones all over the body. These are also called Plasma Cell Myeloma and Kahler
