Character Analysis Of 'Johnny In The Outsiders'
I have read and watched the Outsiders and now I think about it sometimes and the first person who comes up in my mind is Johnny. Johnny, a character in the “The Outsiders” by S.E Hinton has to get through hard times in the bad streets and gangs of Tulsa,Oklahoma. He was unfortunately unable to survive the hard times and ends up passing away. He was happy for what he died for after saving kids in a burning church. Johnny scared,uneasy, and intuitive ways make him forever remembered in the Outsiders. After reading the first 5 chapters of the Outsiders, you will think that Johnny is not the brave kind of guy. Getting near the end of Chapter 6, Johnny shows Pony and Dallas how brave he can be by literally risking his life for other kids. Johnny

Well the rest of the book he isn’t like that;He is more uneasy meaning causing or feeling anxiety;troubled or uncomfortable. Pony says”I had never been jumped, but I had seen Johnny after the after four Socs got hold of him, and it wasn't pretty. Johnny was scared of his own shadow after that. He was sixteen then.” Hinton tries to display Johnny’s uncomfortableness of going out alone and how scared he was after he got jumped. This whole book even with the church incident Johnny can be displayed as a uneasy character. Near the end of the book johnny shows intuitiveness or thoughtfulness to Pony . Also Earlier to the kids he saved. There is 5 words that Pony really thought about in this book. Johnny was in the hospital and right before he died he told Pony to “Stay gold,Ponyboy. Stay gold”.(148). Johnny tells Pony that because he understands how easy it would be for Ponyboy to change because of their harsh environment. He also, like Pony doesn’t always think about rumbles and fighting. He watches more movies and sunsets. Hinton leaves the reader with impression that Johnny is thoughtful of others and intuitive. There are a lot of books and authors in the world. Hinton attracts the readers of the Outsiders attention by describing Johnny in a way not many characters can be described.
