Climax: The turning point for Temple was when her mother decided to help Temple so she is ready for school. For example, as stated in the text ‘’ Instead she found a speech teacher to work with Temple three times a week. By pronouncing words very carefully, the teacher showed her how to listen for the constant sounds she had been missing……….Her mother also hired a nanny, a women who had previously taken care of a little boy who had problems similar to Temple’s. The nanny had taught the boy manners and had helped him learn to talk. Before her first day of school, her mom had a conversation with Temple’s teacher Mrs. Cole. Mrs. Cole told Temple’s classmates that Temple had something like polio which made the kids help Temple. The class promised to be patient with Temple, and they were patient. During elementary she was so happy, she was well accepted in elementary. Temple didn’t want to grow up, she wanted to stay as kid forever. She change to a private all girl school. The girls would be so mean and call her names. In high school her sense was still on fire. As stated in the text” For Temple, so sensitive to light and noise, the echoing hallways, with banging lockers and jostling students, were confusing and traumatic.” This shows how fragile her senses were. Temple also had trouble making friends due to the girls having no patient, also considering Temple’s blunt
