The puritans would adore the book the Golden Compass because of its hard working characters. One of the most hard working characters is lyra the main protagonist, after running away from kidnappers she was rescued by gyptian traders where she had to hid, help negotiate trades, and learn how to fish with the family chief John Faa. There are many examples of men being more powerful / important than women. The first example is the fact that there are no female leaders besides Miss. Coulter. There are tons apon leaders in the Golden Compass all of which are men with the exception of Miss.Coulter. The reason there are no female leaders is because they were thought to be of less worth than men so men were alway chosen to be leaders and kings. Another example is that women are only north to care for the children and nothing more. The final example is that women are not aloud north.
