The story is about two relatives who were of royalty named Palamon and Arcite. The two were captured in battle as teens by King Theseus of Athens. Arcite and Palamon were brought back to Athens and they were imprisoned for years. The two were much more than family, but they became best friends. They really only had each other to rely on. Both men fight like honorable men, but Arcite pins Palamon to the ground with his sword. Therefore Arcite wins the battle. Arcite starts to celebrate and Emily starts to cheer also. Then all of a sudden, the ground begins to shake and this scares the horse that Arcite is on. Arcite gets thrown off his horse and he seriously hurts himself. He expects himself to die so he persuades Emily to marry Palamon. This shows us that deep down inside, Arcite still loved Palamon. We see that Arcite wanted the best for both Palamon and Emily.
The lesson in this story is so true. No matter how many highs and lows you go through, love is stronger. We should still strive to think of others and avoid lows as much as possible. Don’t let your selfishness get in the way of what really
