Character Analysis: Thirteen Reasons Why
If I could meet any character from one of the books we read this year, I would choose to meet Skye Miller from Thirteen Reasons Why. There are many unanswered questions about Skye, and we don’t know a lot about her. We know she’s an outcast and likes to avoid people. We know Clay used to have a crush on her in 8th grade too. She appears only a few times throughout the book, but we can infer Clay goes to help her after he goes after her in the hallway. The reason I would want to meet Skye is because we don’t know a great deal about her, but from what we do know, it’s easy to tell something has happened to her, similar to Hannah or Melinda’s situations. Seeing that, there are a plethora of questions I would ask her if I had the chance of meeting …show more content…
Not knowing much about her makes me curious, and that’s why I chose her out of all the characters to meet in real life. This brings many questions to light. If I met Skye in real life, I would ask her why she suddenly changed from a normal girl to someone that separates herself from society and doesn’t want to be involved in anything. We know she has changed because Clay thinks about it while he’s on the bus with her. Furthermore, I would ask her if Clay ended up helping her in the end. We can tell something is wrong and so can Clay. He reaches out to her at the end of the book because he has a chance to save her unlike with Hannah. If Clay did help her I also would ask if he told her about the tapes and Hannah (but ask in a way so I don’t give it away if she doesn’t know). If he didn’t end up helping her, I would ask her if she has ever considered suicide like Hannah and what her thoughts on Hannah’s suicide were. Additionally, I would ask if she was trying to reach out to Clay when she spoke to him on the bus. All the signs point to something is wrong with her. For example, she changed her appearance like Hannah did. Plus we know she hardly talks, so this can be considered an unusual situation for her. These questions are a select few from a large group of things I would ask her.
I chose to met Skye Miller in real life principally because we don’t know a lot about her compared to the other characters. To name a few,

After a bad night, by mere randomness, he decides to glue a found baby picture of him to his grandparent saint’s necklace and wears it under his shirt. Richard, who starts experiencing acceptance and recognition around the locality also reunites with an old love, Shawna, with whom he spends the night and appears to bring more hope to Richard’s situation. Finding meaning in life is something that every human has considered and struggled with before. This dilemma-this search for something greater than the mundane state of simple existence- drives humans to truly live, to create, and to prosper. Unsurprisingly, the multitude of characters in Station Eleven experience this great debate as well. For example, the novel’s heroine, Kirsten, tries to find meaning through her love for acting. While in St. Deborah by the Water, Kirsten, performing Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Tatiana, “never feels more alive than at these moments. When onstage she fears nothing,” (Mandel 57). Amazingly, Kirsten “fears nothing” although fear defines human existence in the post-flu world. On that account,…

Have you ever found a character, maybe in a tv show, or book, that you can relate to the most (especially by a landslide)? Some people could say yes to the moon and back, while some people have never related that much to a character in their life. For me, I’m more of the former, and I found a character to relate to in To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; Scout Finch. To explain, Scout and I take longer than others to understand things, which could cause frustration in others (mainly peers), and we’re both put under at least some pressure to be more “lady-like”. There’s other similarities too, but they’re either not as significant or I couldn’t find as much quotes to support them.…

I believe I would relate more to Jeannine from Ordinary people, because of the circumstances she had to go through. When her parents were getting separated, when she began to explain to Conrad it was clear that i had a connection with her character. When Jeannines parents got a divorce she had quite some trouble going through all the pain she felt alone, so she tried to find a way to hurt herself, she went on with a couple of kids in the neighborhood, began to smoke, and stealing. As she is telling Conrad about what actually happened in Ohio, she tells him the it wasn't her parents fault she was doing all those bad decisions, she explains that she was doing it to hurt herself. But she asks Conrad not to change a thing between them she doesn’t want him to…

I choose Babe as the character that I would make a “through-line.” She has one of the more detailed and complex background stories. They are complex, because it is not extremely evident why they are significant. However, once one deeply analyzes her character, it becomes evident why these stories about her are so important in trying to understand Babe.…

The character I picked from The Breakfast Club is Allison Reynolds. This character relates to me by how she is quiet and doesn’t speak much when she isn’t comfortable with the people around her, eventually she will become comfortable and show her true self. She is also like me by the way how she lies a lot, and how she does admit to lying later on. I lie sometimes, just not as much, plus my lies aren’t as bad as Allison’s.…

A character in this book that is most relatable to would probably be Dagny Taggart. She is the only strong female character in this book, and she has so many qualities that people should aspire to have. Her passion for the locomotive industry and Taggart Transcontinental is unyielding. She has a vast amount of knowledge in this field, and is willing to do anything for it at any cost. This kind of commitment and passion are qualities that many people do not possess nor will they ever experience because they do not love or the drive in what they are doing in order to reach it at that level. People wish and hope to be able to do the things that they want, but most of them do not because of external circumstances that they allow to change their beliefs. Dagny is a no nonsense kind of…

The plot of Thirteen Reasons Why consisted of a girl named Hannah Baker; who over a course of three years undergone many conflicts that led to her suicide. The twist to this high school teen’s suicide story is she recorded her last moments on audiotapes. She had everything planned out from the start. Where each tape would go, what order, and a map; so they could visit exactly where each event had occurred. On those tapes Hannah talked about thirteen people and their effect on her. All the people listed on Hannah’s tapes had negatively affected her in some way except the twelfth person. The twelfth person was Clay Jensen.…
