There are also a lot of conflicts in the series, the world is shaken by an upcoming war between the king of Adarlan who is plotting a war against humanity itself by bringing demons to his army and the some minor conflicts between the main characters. The conflicts …show more content…
between the characters often come from misunderstandings and are usually easily solved, but there have been some misunderstandings that may or have led to some dear person dying by a simply not talking. The war is not as easily solved of course. Celaena and her “crew” do of course fight this king in hope of a better tomorrow, but the king won’t just surrender so she has to plan, and try to raise an army and crush him once and for all.
Time for some more info of this Celaena and her crew.
Celaena Sardothien - Let's say that she is the main-main character since the story centers around her. She is a young pretty girl, platinum blonde hair, pale skin and bright blue eyes ringed with gold and average height. She's an assassin if I already haven't told you, trained by the "King of Assasins" Arobynn himself since she was found half frozen to death in the river when she was eight. "My name is Celaena Sardothien. But it makes no difference if my name's Celaena or Lillian or Bitch, because I'd still beat you, no matter what you call me." She is a very passionate girl, very fixated on several aspects of her life, her love for her lover and friends, books and music. Being passion about that usually is a good thing but it is also her biggest flaw, she sometimes becomes emotional "unstable". What triggers her to go berserk is when objects of her passion gates destroyed or murdered but that is to be expected.
Chaol Westfall - The Captain of the Guard for the Royal Guard. Described to have close-cropped, chestnut hair and golden-brown eyes. He is also physical fit, not that he's a body builder but fit enough. He was the cold hearted guard that dragged Celaena out of the Salt Camps (a slave camp) and continued to be cold towards her, pretty much because he a was a noble man and ranked as the captain of the royal guard and she was an assassin with utmost skills and he was supposed to protect her. An assassin that had killed the countless amount of guards under his command. He eventually starts to trust Celaena after she proves herself not be the girl before the slave camp where she was a mindless puppet that only killed, eat and slept. This trust eventually leads to that they become great friends and later on his lover. All this shattered when he has to pick the side, Celaena or his king and kingdom he had sworn an oath to. This turns out to be his biggest mistake when Celaena's best friend, Princess Nephemia gets murdered because of his decision.
Rowan Whitethorn – A pure blooded Fae warrior prince.
Tall, broad shouldered, described to have muscles on every inch of his body, not that he looks like a balloon but very muscular. He also has a heart of stone until “someone” appears in his life, this someone is, of course, Celaena, the stories special snowflake. Rowan, a warrior that had served the ruthless queen Maeva for over two centuries, skilled in both magic and all martial arts, a true warrior. When Celaena had a mission to go to Doranelle, the place where Queen Maeve lived, she had to be a fully-fledged Fae. Meaning she had to go through a rigorous training. Rowan was assigned to train her. He showed little to no emotions towards her, acted extremely cold and saw her mostly as a nuisance. "The people you love are just weapons to use against you." He had said to her, probably neglecting back on his dark past. After some events, he loosens up and becomes more emotional with her. They become great friends, I mean really great friends. Okay fine, lovers.
My opinion on the characters then, I love them. There, I said it. All feature different personalities, they all got their flaws and strengths. It is nice to see the author use unique characters in her set of characters. All lovable and impossible to hate, I’m looking at you Game of
Thrones.
If I had to pick a scene from this book it had to be when Celaena takes her time to actually touch the most beautiful instrument in the world, the piano. Celaena who loves music kind of lost it after becoming a slave in the salt mines. When arriving at her new quarters in the glass castle she sees that magical instrument but doesn’t dare to touch it for a while. She gets very emotional when playing music because she expresses a lot of feelings in it. I know it sounds pretty lame, but that was one of the best moments in the book in my opinion. This doesn’t mean the book is bad or any of that sort, it is just me who liked the very odd part of the book.
That pretty much sums it up for the setting and the characters Throne of Glass has to offer. See you in the book log 3!
