Leadership is an essential topic for business, politic and so many other fields. It is an old and complex concept. Thus, several leaders, academics and researchers has defined it differently. In this report I will discusses what is leadership and looks into academic articles to support the discussion about the skills and characteristics that makes a successful leader. Finally, I will mention a real-life example of a good leader.
In 1990, Kotter defined it as ''Leadership is the capacity for collective action to vitalize” (Kotter, 1990). Whereas, Drucker highlighted that leader ''is someone who has followers''. (Drucker, 1999). While, Bill Gates defined it as cited in Forbes, 2013, "As we look ahead …show more content…
Many academic researchers and theorists set a group of characteristics and skills that leaders must have. Kotter believes that leaders motivate and inspire others. (Kotter, 1990). Whereas, in 1994, Capowski pointed out that there are several qualities that leaders must have such as trust, integrity, vision, toughness, decisive, selflessness, commitment, creative ability, communication ability, visibility and risk taking. (Ivan, 2017). While, Bennis and Nanus in 1997, state that effective leader should have characteristics such as confidence, good listening skills and strong self-esteem. Moreover, if we compared what previous researchers said and what we learned in chapter three that there are some qualities that form leaders such as vision, enthusiasm, self-Confidence, ability, charisma and integrity. In 2015, Justin and his party won the green card where he was elected to be the second youngest prime minister.
Justin promised his voters for real change in different aspects such increases the tax for rich people and tax cuts for the middle class. Moreover, he committed environmentalist who start the climate change policies program. On November 2015, he made half of his cabinet positions to women and promised that to have gender balanced
