For eight single professional women gathered in Dallas, it is holy Wednesday — the night each week that they gather in one of their homes for the Traveling Bachelorette Party. Munching snacks and passing a bottle of wine, they cheer, cry and cackle as their spiritual leader, Trista Rehn, braves heartache, indecision and the occasional recitation of bad poetry to choose from among her 25 swains. Yet something is unsettling Leah Hudson's stomach, and it's not just the wine. "I hate that we've been sucked into the Hoover vac of reality TV," says Hudson, 30. "Do we not have anything better to do than to live vicariously through a bunch of 15-minute-fame…
Obviously reading about Patrick Henry is like a flash back to the revolution era. His Speeches are one of the best in America because Patrick Henry motivates the people of Virginia to fight for liberty. That speech made him famous and nowadays he is in the History books . Truly, Patrick Henry is one of the greatest American authors because of his writing style and affect on history . “He spoke without any notes in a voice that became louder and louder, climaxing with the now famous ending. Following his speech, the vote was taken in which his resolutions passed by a narrow margin, and thus Virginia joined in the American Revolution”.(“Patrick Henry.” )…

Wes Moore made many faulty decisions throughout his childhood. The people around someone puts an outcome on one’s entire life. Wes as a kid was very obedient, but he grew up in many criminal oriented neighborhoods. His father left his family when he was young. Wes grew up around his mom who did drugs and friends who influenced him to make his faulty decisions.…

‘Moving into the world involves different pathways to new experiences’ could be interpreted in many different ways. In The Story of Tom Brennan by JC Burke, Tom experiences different emotions and situations as he attempts to move into the world when his brother Daniel is involved in a tragic car accident. All three of these texts show that moving into the world involves different pathways to new experiences shown through different circumstances, problems and views.…
In his speech at the Virginia Convention, Patrick Henry establishes the idea that the country is in danger of being under control by the British by referencing to the past events that have failed, and by using hypothetical situations to show what can happen if they don’t take action.…
John F. Kennedy promoted change and sought to have peace. The structure of Kennedy’s speech is also parallel. He uses a repeating grammatical structure to create a rhythm that evokes the audience’s attention. His address is empowering to the american people and he was very clear on his view of america. Kennedy called upon his fellow Americans to start getting involved in the government and to start serving their country and he invites a new era of peace and cooperation. He calls upon Americans for cooperation, sacrifice, and idealism.…
We all know the jingle, "Chuck E. Cheese's, where a kid can be a kid", and I have to agree that no-one knows how to make it fun for kids like Chuck E. Cheese's. Madison is a big fan of Chuck and for her 2nd birthday we threw a big birthday bash there. Since then I occasionally take her there for a treat and we always have a grand old time, yes even me. Not only is it affordable but the convenience of having both a play ground as I like to call it, complete with food is definitely mom approved. I just love their pizza and so does Madison, you've most certainly have to give their new thin + crispy pizza the next time you visit. On our most recent visit however, we found out that not only was Chuck E. Cheese's still fun, but they were also in the process of doing some good. See for the entire month of April (National Volunteer Month) they are doing a Nationwide Wide Fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters. On 3/31/2016 for the…
While George W. Bush’s Address to the Nation and 9/11: The View From the Midwest are both about 9/11, The View From the Midwest is focused more on one experience rather than being more broad.…
Colin Powell life is interesting because he was the first African-American Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. The commencement speech Powell gives at Howard University show his willingness and determination to overcome challenges. Not letting his race put a limitations on what he could or couldn’t do, shows that anyone can do anything and be anyone in this nation. It also shows how times have changed from the past from African Americans being slaves to running president and doing great things. Powell speech showed me in an encouraging way that you don’t have to be big or popular to do great things.…
A good leader is someone who constantly is honest with the people who he or she is surrounded by. A leader who is educated is able to evaluate other people's skills to have the ability to achieve their ideal goals. As many of us know, Barack Obama was the first African American United States President in the United States' history. I remember it was 2010 when Obama established a healthcare system called Obamacare. Obama is considered a good leader by continuously being plausible and an attentive person for almost eight years. Not only is he an attentive worker, but Barack also does other things to help our nation, such as visiting other countries around the globe. Obama uses humor in his speeches…
In John F. Kennedy’s inaugural address, the author shifts from a powerful tone to an instructive tone by setting an example for other countries, inspiring the younger generations of Americans, and instructing his fellow Americans. Kennedy shows a powerful and tone when he says “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any for to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” Kennedy also shows a powerful tone to America’s young people when he states, “We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans- born in in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage- and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.” Kennedy then shifts his tone to instructive when he advices his citizens to “ask not what America will do for you- ask what you can do for your country.” Kennedy shifts from a powerful tone to an instructive tone in his inaugural address by setting an example for other countries, inspiring the younger generations of Americans, and by instructing his fellow Americans.…
One good quality that I saw in the beginning of the film was when someone else was selling drugs on his turf , instead of going straight over there and handling his business he made sure to get his facts straight, and not just assume anything before he planned his attack. To some it would seem that the simple fact that he went over there to shoot at someone is bad, but when you look at it in another perspective, he could have been mistakenly shot someone who had nothing to do with the drug dealing business. In a society like that dealers no whether or not they can sell drugs on a particular turf so in hindsight they may have gotten what they deserve. Also we can assume that they too have taken out people for the same reason, and it was just karma coming back to them. Another thing that was shown in the film is Curtis Snow being a not so bad father. In a society like that we so often see men not even taking a second look at their children let alone them spending any kind of quality time with them. So for snow to take the time every now and then to visit his son and spend that quality time with him,…
