CheckPoint New System Proposal - Synopsis A specific business requirement like detailed financial or managerial reporting would most definitely drive the need for the creation of a new system. When an old and outdated system performs at less than par, and does not meet the specific requirements of the business, it becomes more of a burden to the company than a helpful tool. An outdated system that does not meet requirements can slow business production to a crawl. For every detailed report necessary for the business to run, an alternative must be conceived. This consists of long man-hours being squandered to come up with an alternative retrieval method, or even worse, having to manually retrieve data and create reports. This senseless waste of company funds, productivity, and time creates drive to purchase or create a new system that is able to produce financial and managerial reports. These reports are vital to the sustainability of the company. They are used to gage progress on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. The information contained in the reports give executives and managers that needed informational edge when making important decisions, setting department and company goals, and reviewing processes to make necessary changes. Overall, having a system than can handle the needs and specific requirements of the business using it, is a must. This will save time, money, and the entire company from failure in some cases. A system that can produce the necessary financial and managerial reports along with any other needed information, will increase productivity across all departments, and create a positive atmosphere in the company because the employees will have the tools needed to accomplish the required tasks. A company that is willing to spend the necessary funds upfront to acquire a system of this caliber will save much more money in the

There are several ways in which to organize a counseling center for victims of domestic abuse. Organization by departmentalization is a model in which the agency is broken into subgroups or departments according to process, market, program, or client and consumer needs. The most effective organization by departmentalization would be to break up the departments according to program. Victims of domestic abuse may need different programs in order to get their lives back on track. Some may be in need of counseling while others need help finding a new place to live or need help with job placement. The downside to organizing a counseling center, by program is that the counseling center may offer only a handful of services and would need to refer clients to outside organizations. If the agency did offer other programs, the victim may feel that they are overwhelmed with their options and may go back to their previous situation.…

In order to run an effective company you need to be organized and have something the consumer wants. IT systems can supply the organization required to advance the company to the forefront. After advancement naturally the company will grow and become a competitor in whatever the product being sold is, and this is where having the IT system will become a requirement to stay competitive. Once the company takes on the IT system and becomes organized it will be extremely hard and regressing to revert back to the “old way of doing things” this will in turn force the company to keep or improve their current IT system in order to keep up with other competitors. In the day and age that we live in with this face paced lifestyle with everything and anything at the consumer’s fingertips a company must evolve to suit the consumer. The consumer is what keeps any company in business and in order to be a competitor the company must be up to date with technology since the consumer will more than likely require these advancements. For example, if you went into a new coffee shop one morning and ordered your coffee and doughnut but while attempting to pay noticed the didn’t accept ATM or credit card and you had no cash well the coffee shop lost your business, and not by any fault of yours it is the companies fault for not staying up to date with technology which includes our IT systems.…

Accounting software is very important when it comes to a company running smoothly. The Enterprise Resource planning software is for the largest organizations with sales exceeding $500 million and more than 500 employees. There are an estimated 17,000 companies that fit this profile. A software system needs to meet the needs of the company and may need certain systems to benefit them the best. Companies may need to keep up with employees work hours, sales commission, and/or payroll. The ERP is for larger companies so they may need systems to keep up with workflow, imagining, business intelligence, or manufacturing. (Johnston, 2003) There are many different systems that are great for the ERP but it has to be perfect for the company when it comes to accounting. Multiview Enterprise .NET n10, NetSuite Financials, Sage 100 Standard and Advanced ERP, SAP Accounting, and Acumatica are all different systems that larger companies may use because they are designed for the larger companies. The Acumatica is a good software from what I have gathered because it has many different systems that it offers. This systems is web-based and offers a general ledger, cash management, accounts payable, an employee portal, currency management, tax management, and deferred revenue management. (Acumatica, 2005)…

The topic I choose is, could the continuing advancement of technology create unforeseen ethical concerns? What might they be? I think that philosophy should not ignore technology.
