Our government consists of 3 branches; Legislative,Executive,Judicial. Each branch plays a major role in law making in our country. However, Checks and Balances were created for these 3 branches to ensure that any of the branches are not granted or abusing more power than the other. Each branch “checks” each other making sure the power is even. An example of checks and balances can be the process of a law. In the Legislative Branch the law is created and voted on, which is then sent to the Executive Branch where the president can approve or veto a law. If the law is vetoed congress can override the veto with ⅔ vote, if not the law is dead. If overridden or approved by the president the law will be sent to the Judicial branch. In the Judicial branch the law will now be decided if it is Constitutional or not. If the law is unconstitutional it will be sent back for further revisions, and the law will start the process again. If not, the draft will become a law. The downside to this is that it is a very long process.The process may take months maybe a year to complete, in that time the law may become irrelevant and a new problem will be present in our lives. If the people being ruled by the king do not approve of his decisions or provisions for the country there is not much they can do. The idea to overthrow a president if he or she is abusing power was in the definition of a equal and well formed democracy. If the President were to displease his people in the way of misuse of power to seem like a monarch or a king we the people may impeach him. The House of Representatives will impeach the government officials or in this case a president in a trial set before the senate. The senate will serve as the Jury. An example of impeachment took place in 1868 when the 17th President of the United States Andrew Johnson was impeached. He was charged for “high crime and misdemeanor” he violated the Tenure Office Act, which eventually led Congress to set a trial of impeachment. All in all, this trial was successful and former president Andrew Johnson was replaced with .This example further justifies the statement that the ruler of our country cannot abuse the power without being forced out of office by the
