A few years ago, rick did not begin his adult life enrolled in college, instead, he began it by enlisting in
the Air Force. Joining the Air Force would potentially enable him to see the world, however, his time in the service was ultimately short-lived and he had to come back to Edinboro because a loved one of his was suffering a crippling mental illness. After leaving college Rick plans to become a journalist for organizations such as NPR, with a greater focus on the news writing aspect rather than the public radio part. Rick’s mom’s side of the family hails from the Central-Eastern European nation of Hungary, coincidentally making him an internationally well-traveled man. Places such as Germany, Poland, the UK, Hungary, and Canada are just a few of the countries Rick has been to. These European nations also may have shaped his world and political views as he has seen first hand the success of Democratic Socialism. Perhaps even as soon as this summer, Rick would also like to venture westward and see the rest of the nation. A lover of National Parks, still on his bucket list are the big ones such as Yellowstone and Yosemite. As a possible rub-off effect from where he grew up, Rick enjoys the countryside, thus making Montana ranches a desirable place to spend his time. In a nutshell - that is Rick Chernicky. Maybe someday we will see his name under a major article on NPR.
