city in Missouri.
Jefferson City is located in the very middle of the state, halfway between Kansas City and St.
Louis, on the right and southern side of the Missouri River. In 2013, it earned the title of America’s most beautiful small town—and certainly not by coincidence. With its alluring landscape, calm charm and historical landmarks, Jeff City is abundant with wonderful places. In addition to the amazing Missouri River views and the beautiful main street, the list of attractions includes the Missouri State Capitol—a monumental building whose 238 foot-high dome is a true jewel of architecture. The earlier mentioned Penitentiary is also attracting large numbers of tourists, who are curious to peek inside the cells of some of the notorious inmates—such as assassin James Earl Ray and heavyweight champion Sonny Liston who used his time in prison to learn how to box.
Jefferson City is also well-known for its production of wine and is frequently referred to as the “Missouri Rhineland”, since it was the Germans who created the first vineyards in the mid-1800s. Because of its perfect combination of high-quality soil and hot climate, this region is perfect for wine growing. With more than 1,600 acres planted in grapes, the wine industry in Missouri is growing rapidly and consistently, counting more than 126 wineries. Today, wine plays an important role in Jefferson City, not only for the agricultural, but also for the tourist
economy.

The unemployment rate in Jefferson City is 4.7%, with a predicted ten-year job growth of 32.2%. The income per capita is $25,934 and the median household income is $48,201.
