Cheryl Sarab Why Should That Night Have Been Different?
Cheryl Saraban was a very normal young lady, with a very normal life, and a very legal job, walking through the Axinthian alleyways at night without no definite purpose. Those were dark times. And during dark times, everyone needs a little more love, for quite often, there’s not enough that goes ‘round. So there. Cheryl, called by her clients Cherry, was a welfare worker, if all truth be told. She was not very tall, her curled, brown hair, and her eyes of similar colour creating a wonderful blend, that was finally contrasted by a full-toothed smile, with teeth kept really quite well. Dressed in red, it was easy to attract attention, but she never had. Why should that night have been different?

He pulled out a hook attached to a string, and threw it to Orbu. The hook pierced his ankle, and while a bloody scream filled the air, Kleptes pulled, resulting in Orbu falling, and being pulled by his ankle closer and closer to him. He subsequently pulled the other part of the rope out, revealing it was tied in a noose. After jumping over Orbu, he threw the noose on the bald man, miraculously fitting perfectly over his head and around his neck. Moments later, when Orbu was far enough, and the rope tense enough, the noose tightened, forcing the bald man to fall backward, and leaving just Disha, on his way to mouthraping Cheryl. He and Kleptes walked toward each other, ‘till the toothless man raised his bottle to hit Kleptes on the head, but Kleptes kneed toothless in the stomach, grabbed his forearm with which he was holding the bottle, and hit him on the head with his own arm. Disha fell to the ground. After clapping his hands together, he walked toward Cheryl, and offered a hand to help her up. She cautiously agreed, and took his

Melissa was a waitress before working at Wal-Mart, where the two met. There had “been some disorganized patches in her life…but that (was) all over now that she has given her life to Christ” (86). Melissa was married to a construction worker, and her children were all grown. The two ladies began to talk more at work, and Melissa even brings Barb sandwiches for lunch occasionally, showing her hospitality and pity for Barb’s “poor” condition, even though Melissa herself is poor. “She calculates in very small units of currency…” (90). Despite her poverty, Melissa continues to show Barb kindness by bringing her food. Melissa is a reflection of many other low-wage workers- she is hospitable and considerate despite being poor. But although she doesn’t have much money to spare, Melissa does have an advantage over other low-wage workers- she has a working husband. This adds a second income to a person’s life as well as a built-in roommate to share rent with. “I either need to find a husband, like Melissa, or a second job, like some of my coworkers,” Barb thinks, inferring that having a working husband makes the same impact on a person’s survival as having a second job (94). This advantage allows her to afford to work at Wal-Mart for only seven dollars an hour. In addition to being able to be hospitable despite her low salary, Melissa is very dedicated to the low-wage system. At Wal-Mart, the employees are almost constantly…
