First and foremost, the consideration of whether or not to help children is the issue. Many of them suffer from drug addiction and are basically brainwashed. To help the mass amount of child soldiers, we should give them amnesty. But we can’t just let them loose into the world because they can all still be dangerous. As the Armed & Underage article states, “They don’t complain, they don’t expect to be paid-and if you tell them to kill, they kill.” This is to show that if they are to hear the word kill, they’ll kill. Of course others may say differently. Personal research has been conducted and has …show more content…
shown that about half had said that allowing child soldiers the ability to roam free can start to bring back what they knew before they were brainwashed. Ideas such as this can help, but to allow them to just go free isn’t safe. Allowing them to be in a happy habitat-like area would also help children revive the nice nature around them.
Rehabilitation is necessary in benefiting the child soldiers in trying to bring them back into the light and out of the dark. It is crucial to know that even some are saying that they enjoy killing! Instances such as this will conclude in the fact that no amnesty shall be given to those who do enjoy killing. In the article The Child Soldier on Trial at Guantanamo a boy named Khadr is on trial because he killed a U.S. solider in battle. Whalst on trial, evidence gathered revealed that some of these children may feel greatly about such acts. “Two former interrogators testified that Khadr had bragged about killing a U.S. soldier… and was the happiest day of his life.” This displays that the amount of power and fear that had been put into the child soldiers have actually been making them enjoy killing. In addition to that we must also learn who these children are. We must learn how some particular child soldiers were taught and how they behave. As a result, knowing how they feel about their violence is keen in helping them. Do they actually like to kill, or are they just doing what the commander said but inside they know it is wrong. In the Armed & Underage article, many young kids haven't ever played in a park and they have always been taught about killings. Like one boy named Awil said “What do i enjoy? I enjoy the gun.” According to research, the article also says “These kids can be so easily brainwashed. They don’t even have to be paid.” It becomes clear that the young kids are so simply powered and will soon even love the feeling of holding a gun that they don’t need persuasion such as money to get ahold of them. So most likely those who have been really dedicated to such horror can be a threat in the near future and giving them more help would be necessary while a little less help to those who don't feel so strongly about this. Finally, to recognize how the children are being taught is also an important part in rehabilitation. Firstly, are they being yelled at in close quarters with drugs being given to them. Or a better (but still bad) is if they are simply being taught by a teacher. Those two details will most certainly result in different effects of violence because one, they won’t be drugged into believing that they are more brave. And two, it’s the kind of environment that they are learning which really counts. Again in the Armed & Underage article it says “They should be in school. But there is no school.” This is resulting in more and more children being brought in to be child soldiers, and can be a good reason for child soldiers. These kids need to hold pencils and erasers, not guns and drugs. The article also states that 80% of child soldiers are rebel troops and only 20% are government. This can also severely traumatized children into causing a greater impact on how attacks can be led. Overall child soldiers can cause a very big impact unless the rebel groups and government is to stop taking them.
Once more, the three main icons key to helping child soldiers is we firstly need to be considerate and not let them wander off freely. Secondly, research must be done to find out how they feel about killing and what's going on around them. Are the passionate about such events, or do they despise them. And finally we must clarify what kind of state they’re in. Meaning the kind of schools in which they have been taught in. Are they being yelled at by a general, or simply being taught in a school. Crucial evidence may lead to more investigations and might someday end child
soldiers.
