Child soldiers are victims, not perpetrators, so they should be granted amnesty. Though to some it may look like these kids are choosing this life, in reality, most aren’t. They either have to join those forces or die, which is terrifying for any child to imagine. Not only that, but they were drugged to kill, making them forget how bad it was that they were doing. And to some of them, that army was the only family that they have, providing better living conditions than those out on the streets. Which is why these children are victims of this terrible event and should be legally forgiven for what they were forced to do.…

First and foremost, the consideration of whether or not to help children is the issue. Many of them suffer from drug addiction and are basically brainwashed. To help the mass amount of child soldiers, we should give them amnesty. But we can’t just let them loose into the world because they can all still be dangerous. As the Armed & Underage article states, “They don’t complain, they don’t expect to be paid-and if you tell them to kill, they kill.” This is to show that if they are to hear the word kill, they’ll kill. Of course others may say differently. Personal research has been conducted and has…

Since 2001 and as of 2008, child soldiers have participated in 21 on-going or recent armed conflicts in almost every region of the world. Ranging from ages of 8 to 15, child soldiers are raped, abused, and sometimes even sent on suicide missions if they haven't died from the hardship put on a child in the military. 40% of child soldiers are recruited by force and many times forced to kill their family so that they don't have anything to come back to if they escape from the military. In 2010, there were over 200,000 children fighting in wars. 20% of those kids, were a part of government groups. After the war, the government turned around and said those kids need to be prosecuted. How would you feel if you were forced to fight and traumatized for life, then have to go on trial for something you never wanted to do in the first place? According to the United Nations along with other human rights groups, a child soldier is considered a child who is 18 years or younger fighting on the front line (Child Recruitment pg.1).
