2. N ‘I’m thinking about all the stuff I need for a my shopping, so I can draw them’
3. Practitioner ‘so your making a shopping list’
4. N ‘yes I always do this with my mum at home when it is near the time for us to go shopping, so now I’m going to draw and write all the things I need for a shopping list.’
5. Practitioner ‘clever girl, yes you do like doing shopping lists I saw you doing one last week, you like to do a drawing everyday to take home with you to show mummy’
6. (N nodded and smiled, and then she picked up a pencil with her right hand and held the pencil in a pincer grip. N begins to make lines and circles on her white piece of plane paper.)

8. J interrupted N talking ‘I don’t want to draw anymore I want to play with cars’ (J gets up off his chair)
9. Practitioner ‘oh Jason, why don’t you come draw me a nice picture like Nafisa’
10. J ‘I finished drawing, I don’t like it, I want to go play with the cars’ (J replied as he walked away from the drawing table)
11. Practitioner ‘u did not do anything but ok Jason you can go play with the cars’
12. Practitioner ' oh wow Nafisa your shopping list is looking very good, are you colouring them the right colours’
13. N ‘yes...banana’s are yellow, oranges are orange (she laughed) and I will finish the rest in a little while I need to finish colouring my oranges.’ (N smiled at the practitioner)

Sometimes, perhaps once every two or three months, he places all these items together, in such a way that he can take them in with one sweep of his eye. In order not to disturb the mallow, the arrangement is generally made by dragging a coffee table to the window and placing all the other objects carefully on it. The four harps, three fungus specimens, the asphalt and benzoine, the sea urchin. When the collection has been set out in its order, he brings a chair from the kitchen and sits, observing his possessions. The observation brings him pleasure. It generally continues for several hours. He notes the differences and similarities between these objects, grouping and regrouping them in his mind. At these surveying times, he likes to comment – to himself, only to himself – that there is another item in the collection. A living item. A Jew. Himself.…

The next day however, she makes a couple mistakes even before she starts shopping. First, she is “faint and tired”. Two things result from this. Firstly, she sits down on a stool, resulting in her hand brushing against the silk stockings. Secondly, because of her fatigue, she is more likely to not have the energy to think properly or have the gumption to bargain like she usually does. Her second mistake was to go shopping on an empty stomach. This will come back to haunt her later, and aid in her frivolous spending.…

Into a convenient store, I see a few familiar faces without surprise. ‘Oily Bill’ is sitting beside the window wiping his mouth with his dirty hands as usual. I can feel goose bumps running down my back seeing such a disgusting scene. I think I just lost my appetite from breakfast. Little Sam is cashing out in a counter. He is probably buying cigarettes, I thought. I remembered someone mentioned last week that he started smoking. It is such a shame that a young life is ruined by temptation of cigarettes. Lily miss Kitty is buying food for her cats again. When is she going to realize no matter how many cats she takes care of, she is still going to be a lonely old woman? Feeling extremely uncomfortable, I clench my fists and walk fast across the aisle, trying to retrieve a can of coffee without the need of greeting any one of them here. I don’t want to talk to…
