In the year of 1831, there were well over 19 million grape vines planted in the country of Chile. The wine became a lot more popular for Chile after the years of 1810 through 1818. These years were years of war for them. On the day of February 12, 1818, the Declaration of Independence was signed for the Chilean people. Therefore, this day is when Chile celebrates their day of independence.
