In 1979, the Chinese leader Deng Xiaping implemented the one-child per family policy with an aim to reduce the over population that was happening back then in China. Over half a century has passed and the so called “temporary law” is still in action believing that it is reforming work and improving the living standards of the people. However, the one-child per family policy has built many physical and mental disadvantages into the Chinese society and should be abolished because it has created an excess generation of men, a social problem for a generation of “little emperors” and is in violation of the human rights of every individual. The one-child policy causes the generation of excess men issue where married couple only interested in having male babies due to the fact that these male babies will be carrying the family name for different generations to come. The British Medical Journal (as cited in Gee 2009) explains that “China has 32 million boys under the age of 20 than girls” (para. 9). This meant that Chinese males will be unable to find wives to marry when the time came to tie the knot. Furthermore, it will lead to a huge number of abandoned children or, even worse; it will lead to a huge rise in human trafficking.
