In the autobiography ‘Chinese Cinderella’ by Adeline Yen Mah, a main character that will be described is Adeline herself, as she is such an inspirational person. This essay will describe Adeline’s personality traits, being strong willed, loyal and courageous.
Adeline’s personality traits were shown while being strong willed and being voted as the class president at a very young age. ‘Why should your classmates bring you gifts? Niang asked suspiciously.’ It‘s because we won the election today. I’m now class president. We worked hard at it...’ Although Niang was being unfair, Adeline was still very determined to make her family proud and go on winning the respect she deserved. ‘I must study harder and go on wearing this medal so I can go on pleasing father.’ Adeline was also being strong willed when her siblings were asking cruel Niang for tram money, but Adeline wouldn’t because she was determined to prove that she was old enough and responsible enough to travel to school by herself although it was a long walk. ‘There is obviously nobody looking out for me.
