Chris Pickle's Role
The Health and Safety is a major line management obligation and the College is committed to safeguard that it is an essential part of the importance management activity. In this report I will be assessing the implications of Health and Safety legislations and regulations for the role of Chris Pickles the Head and Safety Officer and Technical Facilities Managing in the Engineering and Science department in Kingston College. I will be explaining he’s role in more detail.

Students and staff in Kingston College are obligated by the Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974, which require general Health and Safety. The Health and Safety Law poster in Kingston College demonstrates how this delegation works in practice. This involved within the job description of Chris Pickles because they will have to protect the staff and especially the students within the college. If everyone is protected from any risk or danger, this is going to help reduce the risk of accidents or any injuries happening within the college.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 main target is to reduce harm by requiring the assessment of all potential risks and the creation of plans for unexpected emergencies. This regulation appoints a duty on everyone in the workplace to assess all risks for all of their workers. In the interview Chris Pickles assures that risk assessments are conducted once a year and new equipment’s because they will need to know if they are safe to use.

The Report of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1992 this regulation is dealing with accidents, injuries or dangerous occurrences in the workplace. This requires Chris Pickled to record and report any certain work-related accidents. For example, a students or staff must report dangerous incidents where something happens that does not result in an injury.
