When the Christians came peacefully at first, with promises of schools, acceptance, and hope. Because of this the tribe believes that the Christians aren’t a threat and that the bad spirits and haunted forest will take care of the Christians. But that doesn’t stop the weak and outcasts to see what the Christians had to offer. People with little power and nothing to lose are more willing to join then the higher ups in the tribe, that had a lot more to lose. But it makes the Christians seem more like the outcasts that’s who they associate with. With the leaders not being included, they meet with each other to talk about the Christians. In result the Christians jail the leaders of the tribe. With the leaders being jailed it made the people start to see the Christians true personality. Lastly with Okumbo seeing his people giving in to the Christians and not fighting back he commits suicide.
