Christopher Columbus day should not remain a holiday because it is just another event on the calendar to keep track of and it could make some native American tribes aggravated if it stays. Even if Columbus day isn’t as bad as it seems, the people have the right to want to get rid of it. Although some people will get mad if this day leaves, they should know that “Columbus was a cruel slave trader who brought about the mass killing of native people.”. Columbus day was supposed to be a day when America was found, but others go deeper than that and want to get rid of it. All people, Americans and Native Americans get to have a say in this, whether it be to stay or it is to…

Everything that has been taught to us before this course is a lie. At least that would be what I would say if you asked me to describe what I learned in this course in one sentence. Throughout this course, I was exposed to background knowledge of historical events and figures that I hadn’t learned before. I learned everything from the truth behind the discovery of the new world, to the way our textbooks are created, to the real horrors of the holocaust, and even to the truth behind the reason our wars. I learned that behind the reason’s that the U.S claim to be for going to war, there are other REAL reasons for it. Reasons that are filled with greed and don’t benefit anyone but those who are in power. The history that I learned in this course, wasn’t the exact depiction of the one I had learned before. Actually, it wasn’t even close to being like it.…

Christopher Columbus made a total of four voyages in the span of twelve years, from 1492 to 1504. His voyage was not an easy one. He asked the king and queen several times for their finances to make the trip. Christopher Columbus eventually convinced them to allow him and his crew to go because he told them that he would discover a "back door" route to the riches of Asia, India and the "spice islands" - by sailing west across the Atlantic Ocean instead of east. Christopher Columbus bought King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella gold, parrots, and spices to prove that he had actually found land. He also brought back with him the natives. While sailing back to Spain hundreds of natives died on Columbus ' three ships, the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. The king and queen granted him more money for his next voyage.…

Christopher Columbus (Italian: Cristoforo Colombo; Spanish: Cristóbal Colón; Portuguese: Cristóvão Colombo; before 31 October 1451 – 20 May 1506) was an explorer, navigator, and colonizer, born in the Republic of Genoa, in what is today northwestern Italy.[2][3][4][5] Under the auspices of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, he completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean that led to general European awareness of the American continents.
