Cialis Cialis is a brand-name drug that treats ED, or erectile dysfunction, and BPH, also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia. “Cialis is indicated for the treatment of men with erectile dysfunction (ED), men with the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and men with both ED and the signs and symptoms of BPH.” (Cialis) Cialis is manufactured by the company Eli Lilly and Sons, and its patent will expire by 2016 at the earliest, however it may extend due to competition in the market. “The first patent for Cialis expires in 2016. This is the earliest date that a generic form of Cialis could become available. However, other circumstances could extend the exclusivity period beyond 2016.” (eMedTV) It faces challenge from the widely known brand on the market and it is Viagra, even with this giant, there are others such as Levitra and Staxyn. Cialis is catching up to Viagra, and is gaining reputation as the new up and comer due to its astronomical sales that grow daily. Cialis provides relief for many people all over the world and since its approval has risen through the ranks as quick as it possibly could. Cialis, as it was patented recently in the previous years, does not have any form of a generic drug made available to the public. A generic will be created when the patent and its exclusive rights to sell have expired. The scientific name for Cialis is Tadalafil. “Cialis is in the same family of medicines as Viagra and is prescribed to help tackle impotence, which is also known as erectile dysfunction. Cialis is the trade name of a prescription only medicine whose scientific name is tadalafil. It is one of a class of medicines known as PDE-5 (Phosphodiesterase type 5) inhibitors.
