Mexico owed money to England, Spain and France, President Benito Juarez, decided to suspended the debt, and French did not agree and decided to invade, and they arrive to Mexico with soldiers.
6. On May 5, 1862 at the Battle of Puebla, the Mexican army, who was lead by General Ignacio Zaragoza Sequin, defeated the french army. Cinco de Mayo, however, is not the independence day of Mèxico; that date is September 16
7. Mexican army went with 4,852 and French army with 6,048, the French army had not lost a battle in fifty years, and they had the stronger army in the world during that time, better weapons and equipment than any other country.
8. So when the Mexican army won the Battle of Puebla of Cinco de Mayo and beat the French.
9. The Mexican people were very happy and proud of their victory 1862.

Student will be handle a small paragraph of written anthology about the Cinco de Mayo.
Independence Practices
Students will write a summary of the Cinco de Mayo, and explain why is not independence Day celebration.
Assessment and/or Evaluation:
Teacher will grade the students based on the summary of the batalla of Puebla, and how they locate the important cities during that time.
