(a) Financial resources- Because the recession in Korea affected the Kim family at that time, Mr. Kim and Mrs. Kim couldn’t send enough money to the children who were in another country. Mr. Kim was a little bit of depressed, and Mrs. Kim tried to neglect her pains and just focused on working. Sara stopped attempting suicide and tried to cure her pain by spending time with friends. Sophia didn’t think of this crisis seriously because she was young. She just went to school, church, and home as a daily routine.
The family system’s internal resources/ Circumplex Model. Using the Circumplex Model, I will be describing the family’s internal resources that had affected and are still affecting them up to the present:
(a) Cohesion- the family’s cohesion is disengaged because they have lived with too much separateness. They try to get connected each other just because of obligation. They are high independent. However, Mr. Kim and Mrs. Kim never talk each other. They don’t even have their contact numbers. The family system is definitely unbalanced until now.
(b) Flexibility- the family’s flexibility is rigid because they don’t want to change the family system. They just neglect and stabilize their livings. The family doesn’t have leadership, but it seems like the parents have more power than the children. They have limited discussion and stable roles.
