Assignment 4: Chapter 5 Case Study
1. Because CEOs are not just a top manager of companies, they also have functions like leaders and regulators. Their actions always affect the whole company culture. If they did what is wrong, their employees may think “if the leaders do it, then it’s not a wrong thing, and maybe I can do it as well”. CEOs should pay attention to the technology part, especially in the areas of security and ethics. To avoid the security problems, such as stolen proprietary information and stolen trade secrets, CEOs should make sure the important data is not leaked to competitors, or potential competitors (the employee that you fired). They can also hire some technicians to avoid hackers. To the ethics aspect, CEOs should have correct values and make a regulation to reducing the unethical behavior in companies.
2. Because nowadays are the era of technology. Almost everyone is using technology, competitors are using it, suppliers are using it, and even customers like to choose technology way to shopping. Nontechnological industries should think about using technology, it will bring more opportunities, reduce the expense of labor and increase profits.
3. Because the development of technology is really fast. Information are upgrading every day. Learning technology continuously can let CEOs and managers get the new information early and analyze which one is useful and which one is the most risky clearly. It will also let the company gain the dominant position within this competition business world.
4. To a CTO, he/she can make sure the software in company use is safe and monitor all technology staffs work. To a CPO, he/she should monitor all the internet activities in the company, alarm the sensitive words and help CEO make the ethic regulation about IT uses. To a CSO, he/she should protect business information from hackers, don’t let the company computers use personally, and use higher protection to top managers’ computers.
