The two portable devices that just about everyone has in their home, purse, briefcase and workplace. A laptop and or a tablet. There are a few things to consider when deciding which device to purchase. Price, memory, battery life, display, connectivity, syncing capabilities are all factors to think about. One of the main factors of course is the price. The typical price range for a laptop is from about $275-$1600. (Noblepcs) The average price for tablets is $337. (pcworld) This is of course an average price range there are tablets priced lower than the amount listed. Memory or RAM is another factor that could sway your decision about purchasing a laptop or tablet.
Typically laptops come with more memory (4-8GB) than tablets. Tablets typically come with an average of 1GB of RAM. If the purchase is for memory purposes then the laptop would be a better option. However, the tablet can have increased memory it just comes at a steeper price ($2000) than the laptop. The battery life of the device is important depending on how much the device will be used. The average battery life for a laptop is about six hours. Let’s keep in perspective it takes more “juice” to run a laptop than a small tablet which has an average battery life of ten hours. The main focus for a purchase would be price, memory, and battery life. Laptops, like desktop PCs before them, have a built-in benefit over tablets, and that benefit is power. As a rule, laptops have more powerful processing hardware, allowing for a wider range of uses, faster performance and better multitasking. Laptops can easily handle common tablet uses—like Web browsing and media streaming—and then go significantly further, with uses ranging from simple data entry to complex tasks like photo and video editing.
