Comparison between City Life and Country Life

Everyone has a different lifestyle. People sometimes have to decide where they want to live. Some people prefer to live in the city while other people choose to live in the countryside. Their choice depends upon their background. City lifestyle and country lifestyle are two different types of living. Although, these two types of living differ from each other by environment, job opportunities and cost of living; they also have similar features such as daily routine, values and people live and work in these areas.
The most notable difference between life in countryside and life in the city is environment. There are less pollution, fewer cars and factories in the countryside. The environment of the country is better than city’s environment. People who are living in rural areas breathe fresh air and use clean water. There are a lot of trees and bushes there because they provide to people fresh air and consume carbon dioxide. Moreover, people from countryside do not face with traffic jams because there is not so big quantity of cars. In addition, environment of the country has many picturesque sceneries and quiet conditions due to small population (“Benefits to living”, n.d.). It is beneficial for elders because there is a small crime rate in the country and they can live calmly without worrying about their safety. On the other hand, people who are living in the big cities suffer from different sorts of pollution. The diverse vehicles such as taxis, buses, motorbikes cause noise pollution. Furthermore, factories are important causes of noise and air pollution. Another disadvantage of living in the city are congestions. They have a negative impact for people’s health because they have to breathe the smog, which is produced by vehicles. Nevertheless, cities contain theaters, museums, sporting events, and other activities that help to people know

When living in the country there are fewer people to interact with compared to city living. Your closest neighbor may be a mile or more away and there are not as many people to meet and converse with. Often in the country everybody knows everybody, there are no new people to meet because a lot of the families have lived in the area for generations. In the country, there is less cultural diversity compared to city living. In a city there are more people than one could possibly ever know. There are many new people to meet and get to know if you choose to do so. Some people may prefer to keep to themselves and others like to be around a lot of people. Personally, I love to be around people of all walks of life. I love meeting new people, finding out where they are from, where they work and their interests. A city is literally a “melting pot” of different cultures. Many people, when moving to a new area, migrate toward a metropolis instead of the country. When foreigners immigrate to the United States, for example, they flock to the city not the country. When people move to a new area, they want to be around people who are like-minded and similar to them. We find examples of this in most major cities, such as: Chinatowns; San Francisco’s Russian Hill; New York’s Spanish Harlem, etc. If a solitary life is what you desire then country living would be ideal; whereas city living would be ideal for meeting new people and/or people-watching.…

There are many differences between living in the city or in a country setting, but the country setting has many more advantages over the city. The air and water quality and other environment factors are improved in the country setting. The school system is safer and less crowded in a rural setting. The roads are not loaded with traffic and taxis. The country is safer than the city and crime rates are lower. In the country, there is an abundance of trees and vegetation. In the country, there are parks and open spaces, and there is a variety of wildlife to observe. Although some of the reasons why one might choose to live in either place are left to personal preference, there are many factors based solely on facts.…

Country life compared to city life differs in many ways pertaining to the economy, environment, society and lifestyle. Which community would someone pick based on these factors. First, relating to the economical differences, cities have plenty of job opportunities there are many businesses and homes to work. Also, public transportation makes it easier to get to work, compared to the country. Country areas are far away from big business, so farming and living of the land is what most people do. But, some people still drive a hundred or more miles to work every day to the closest city or business. So living in the city costs less for fuel compared to the country. Country people who farm need fuel for their equipment, so keep in mind the cost. But, Studies say twenty years from now; high demand of food will affect the farming industry in a positive way. Read the article Town or country mouse? by John Russell Once upon a time, there were two mice – cousins. One lived in the town and the other in the country. The town mouse was a very superior mouse, who thought that living in the town was far better than living the country. So one day, he invited his country cousin to stay with him in his town house and experience the civilized lifestyle of the town. They sat down to a meal, which to the country mouse was a feast. “Goodness me” he said. “If I was in the country, I would be having only simple bread and cheese in the quiet of my peaceful home.” Suddenly, there was a loud noise at the door. “Don’t worry,” said the town mouse, “that’s just my neighbour - the dog, he wants to join us for dinner.” The country mouse ate a little faster. Another noise was heard outside, even louder this time. “Oh dear” said the town mouse, “the cat who lives facing my house wants to join us too.” Quickly eating the last of his meal, the country mouse said, “thank you, but I think I will return to the peace and quiet of my own house after all!” Then he ran back home as fast as his legs could carry him. This simple tale (taken from Aesop’s famous stories) shows that what may be a good place to live for one person, may not be good for another. A modern version of this story might look like this: Maria lives in a big city surrounded by the speed and convenience of urban life. She works in an office with 1000 other employees, and travels too and from there on a crowded Metro. Her home is a flat overlooking…
