I conducted my research by obtaining books on bibliographies of women during that era from a university. I used those books to take note of the impact of events or people during the antebellum era to see how women were influenced. The books as well as provided primary sources. context to set a good base of research for my project. In addition, I diligently did intensive online researches for articles that will broaden my perspective of causes and effects of the war on women.
I selected a website because I wanted to have a fastidious, systematic, and prudent form of showcasing my material in a way where it's easily accessible.
The website was created so that viewers can orderly see the thesis to the historical context: the setting of the stage, the influence, and the ideas/philosophical shifts. Judiciously, my website follows with the turning point with subcategories of who, what, how; The turning point will then lead to the effects or the significance: changed expectations, impact to the era, and continued impact. The website then finishes with my research: the process paper and
bibliography.
The topic “The Roles of Women During the Civil War” relates to the theme of exploration because women started to discover ways of helping their community. Encounter, because women bravely stepped up to the plate to make a change by supporting the war in several ways. Exchange, because society —both in the antebellum era and the present— think more of women according to how their actions positively affected the war. Women investigated the ways to readjust themselves according to their current situation of war and their “ proper place.” Which in turn, inspired many people to question a woman's place in society.
