In the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury describes different aspect throughout the book. Clarisse from the beginning appeared so sad and strange, as if she came out of jail. At the moment when Montag and she were becoming friends they felt almost in need of attention and it felt exact of one another. Like if they were met to be with each other, I was very weird as if two strangers would get connect with each other. Although Clarisse seemed to be strange and unusually talkative, I was a person just like her that not socialized with people at school. So I could’ve felt that same connection with her. I had her pain once and the only person that helped me was God. I don’t feel sorry for her because I knew she could do it with the help of Montag.…

The bus driver for the town of Sam Dent, Dolores Driscoll, seems very nice and caring, but there are definitely many examples throughout the first chapter that show her to be quite goofy. First of all, a lot of the things she says and the phrases that she uses are very out there and do not seem to make a whole lot of sense. In the second paragraph on page eleven Dolores says, “Doreen was a Pomeroy from Lake Placid, a sweet little ding-a-ling of a girl”. On page 31 paragraph two Dolores also says, “...and it scared the bejesus out of me, although I could not for the life of me tell you why”. These two sentences make her seem a little loony because the things she says are so unique, and even I rarely ever her people use those phrases. This is just one example of how the author portrays Dolores to be just a bit nutty.…

Writing the sounds Malala Yousafzai heard whilst she was shot is really interesting. You can take this quote in many ways. First, she could have written it this way because she relives it when she writes. Repeating the same sound over and over represents someone being affected by a traumatic experience. Second, she is explaining that instead of thinking of her death, her body was trying to find ways to avoid shock. It’s similar to when you have a panic attack, you try and focus on one object to calm you down. So when she wrote this, she wanted the reader to imagine the butcher’s chopping rather than the gun shot because it’s what she did. Third, she wants the reader to know she was conscious then she was shot but not fully aware. Either way,…

The traits and personality of Mildred help to strengthen those opposite of her, Clarisse McClellan, a character that is very contradictory to Mildred, is a great example of this. Not only does Clarisse embody the strength and originality of those that stray from their “enslaving” community, but she symbolizes the salamander and the flame, because she braves the engulfing flames. This is a great contrast to Mildred who is buried underneath them and is greatly influenced by society’s clout. There are many times in the story where Mildred will say something that is the most adverse thing to something Clarisse had said earlier and vise versa. An example of this would be on page 21 when Montag finds himself comparing Mildred and Clarisse, “And my wife thirty and yet you seem so much older at times,”(21). The way the Mildred spoke and acted was seemingly more immature to Montag then the way Clarisse would speak. Clarisse would speak in a more observant straight to the point way while Mildred was more of an “avoid the subject” kind of person. This just proves that Mildred’s character was critical in the role of strengthening Clarisse’s…

This quote from Edna makes me think she felt astray from herself for a long time. In the first sentence, Edna states she’s easily able to give everything else to her children. The unessential, and money, yet the one thing she declines to give is herself. Usually a mother would want to give everything plus the whole world to their child, however the last sentence displays Edna’s desperateness to finally get a grasp at what she has been missing for a long time. Edna’s character from the beginning of the story seemed as if she was unhappy, so it’s of no surprise.…

This shows Clarisse’s person plus the effect she has on others. As soon as Clarisse met Guy (a.k.a Montag) she immediately started to question him. She is driven by her curiosity and with that is able to figure out everything, hence “emptying his pockets.” The phrase itself has a deeper meaning; rather than actually emptying his pockets she emptied his mind, discovering small pieces of information that others tend to look past. Just from the smell of kerosene she detected that he was a fireman. Paying attention to the smallest details is so important. A scent, look, or act can lead to something much bigger. Do not overlook the simple things because they are vital, and in reality extra hard for most to…

Clarisse is an odd seventeen year old who likes odd stuff including books. “well” she said, “I'm seventeen and I'm crazy” said Clarisse. This shows how naive and careless she is as she tells Montag, at this point a complete stranger to her. Clarisse so willingly tells Montag this might show that she doesn't think that deep. “There's a man in the moon” said Clarisse. She notices things that the majority people in her society do not. Clarisse also has different opinions and reactions towards thing, weather better or worse. Clarisse is a curious and adventurous seventeen year old.…

"Look like the innocent flower, but be the serpent under it (Act 1, Scene 5, Page 3)." This quote was said by Lady Macbeth and I found it interesting because, this quote is actually being compared to Lady Macbeth instead of Macbeth. The flower is being compared to her by how she treated other people. For example, when the king came to her house/castle, she actually treated him well. Also she was being compared to the serpent because, she actually want to kill the king. So the quote is saying that Lady Macbeth is nice and kind on the outside, but evil on the inside.…

Have you ever found a character, maybe in a tv show, or book, that you can relate to the most (especially by a landslide)? Some people could say yes to the moon and back, while some people have never related that much to a character in their life. For me, I’m more of the former, and I found a character to relate to in To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee; Scout Finch. To explain, Scout and I take longer than others to understand things, which could cause frustration in others (mainly peers), and we’re both put under at least some pressure to be more “lady-like”. There’s other similarities too, but they’re either not as significant or I couldn’t find as much quotes to support them.…
