oboe, clarinet, and bassoon was also included. The last section was the string section, including violins, cellos, and double basses. This symphony was not solely slow or fast. Due to the program of this symphony, fate is always hanging over our head, but it's a beautiful wonder, the symphony switched between being slow and fast. The same reason applies to why the symphony was not solely loud or soft or heavy beating or gentle flowing. The four parts sounded different to me. For example, the third portion, the scherzo, the violins plucked their instruments whereas in all the other parts they used their bow. The second part, the andantino, starts off with the oboe and is light and smooth flowing. Later, the cello is plays the same melody. This part sounds light, soft, almost caresses your ears. These two parts were completely different because of the melody and the tempo. I would explain this is a rather unorthodox way because of who my friends are. Symphony number four is beautiful. The symphony relaxes you and when you've gotten completely relaxed it shocks you back into being wide awake. Almost like when you are about to fall asleep and then you feel like you're falling so you jerk back to alertness, but then you slowly relax and fall asleep, except with this symphony it's like doing that over and over again in a beautiful torture. The music is calming and soft, but then loud and almost like the scary part of the movie. The symphony four is beautiful and exciting, kept me on my toes the whole time. I don't even know how to explain how the symphony four made me feel. Parts of it made me feel free like I was walking in a field of flowers. Other parts made me feel like I was Belle on the first day that she was jailed by the Beast. During some portions of the symphony I felt remorse and depression, but others I felt utter bliss and love. After listening to the analysis by Gerard Shwarz this symphony reminds me of fate, but like he said, a beautiful fate. For example, a bee and they're relationship to the human population. A bee that is responsible for pollinating the earth and making it beautiful and green, not to mention the reason we have oxygen, is usually swatted at when it's near a human. This symphony reminds me of this because it's the life of a bee. They're doing something beautiful by pollinating the earth and fulfilling their destiny, but they're going to be swatted at until someone kills them. I had two favorite parts in this symphony.
The first favorite part was the second part, the andantino. This was one of my favorites because of how beautiful it was. I enjoy slower classical music. I liked that it made me feel at ease and relaxed. The melody was simply and repetitive, but it reminded me of utter bliss. My second favorite part was the third part of the symphony, the scherzo. I fell in love with this part because it reminds me of a time when people wore huge gowns for balls and would dance all night long. The end of this part is pretty fast and upbeat so it reminds me of a scandalous ending to the night at the ball, like a kiss from a strange man or two forbidden lovers running into a garden to spend a fleeting moment together. This symphony was perfect to me; I didn't dislike any piece of the …show more content…
symphony. Music has been around for what feels like forever, dating all the way back to 1000 CE.
Africa had polyrhythmic music, meaning it had many rhymes. Typically the Rhymes were repetitive. The music, even then, was used to make people feel something. Then jump over to the Renaissance where music flourished under Kind Henry's rule. Churches were heavily involved with music. However, their music was taught to the people because it was believed that if they sang the words that they would have a better understanding of them. This spread to Europe which is where the famous Bach was created. He wrote and played music for churches; later this spread to New Spain. In New Spain they added something kind of new. New Spain took poems and added music to them. New Spain also created a new type of music called Villancios. Villancios included a guitar and vernacular. During the Boroque time Opera was developed. Later in the same time periiod Antonio Vivaldi created concertos, but more importantly created the allegro. This was used heavily in the Finale, allegro con fuoco, of the symphony number four. The one thing that 100% stayed consistent was that all of the music in all time periods was meant to make people feel something. I feel like humans will always have to ability to create something beautiful, especially in music. Mathematically there are too many variable for every melody to ever be discovered. Humans are strong when it comes to their ability to create. That being said, they have
created music since the beginning of time for two reasons. One, religion. Churches have played such a large role in every community that music was used to help people worship their god(s). Second, emotions. Humans love to feel. They want to feel love, joy, bliss, sadness, anger, fear, everything! With music they can create their own picture, their own movies. Music also makes them feel like they're closer to their god(s) and doing a better job and worshipping and understanding them. Music always boils down to the emotions human gather from it.
