Everybody changes through their lives somewhat, some more than others. Dara changed a lot through the entire story. She has grown and changed from all the people and incidents she has been through. There are particular people and incidents that helped her change, and grow. Some examples of people and incidents that did help her grow and change where Jantu through her whole Journey and death, Chnay going through looking for her parents and who they were in trouble with, and lastly what changed her was the bombing that split her family.
The first example I put was of Jantu and how Dara has been changed by her through her life. Since the second Dara really met Jantu, she has inspired her as a friend. When they met at the camp where they had plenty of food even the food changed her. Just to know there was more than enough was comforting, and gave her room to think. Jantu inspired Dara with her magic hands and it made her have much more hope, and that changed her alot. They grew so close that being separated soon after having the idea of forming a family together that it really hurt Dara and changed her. Way later in the book when Jantus inspiring words helped Duoic pick up the bottle has shown Dara that you must be strong which also changed Dara to be stronger. When Jantu was shot the words that Jantu eventually made Dara stronger. The words Jantu said to make Dara realize that the magic marbles wasn't magic helped Dara Realize "'the magic was in the making'". Dara realized that it wasn't the marbles it was the belief and this helped Dara change to believe herself.
The second example of why Dara is changing is because of Chnay and what they've gone through. Chnay did get her very angry when he broke her toys. Afterwards when he brought her to find her parents he got her to steal the chicken at the camp which did grow spirit going with Chnay that's even what the man who caught her said "'I like you kid, you've got
