Clear Liquid Diet Essay
Anyone on a clear liquid diet is doing that due to medical procedures such as surgery, having the flu, or sometimes other stomach disorders until they can go on solids again. The clear liquid diet is only that: foods that will go down easily and don't require a lot of digesting. The clear liquid diet helps the person on it to stay hydrated enough for the body to function, and also provides you with electrolytes that are needed as well. This type of a diet is usually for the shorter term until whatever ailment it is becomes corrected. The following foods is what a dietitian at the hospital will recommend or else your doctor: You can have clear water and any fluids such as fruit juices and Gatorade for the initial period of starting to heal …show more content…
Dieting is a common topic that covers the front pages of nearly all the magazines at the checkout. Unfortunately, we know that most of these don't work - or if they do, they only work for a short while. Almost all these diets share the same mistake. They force you to transfer to their choices of foods and have you sacrifice almost everything you enjoy. When you look at these diets next time, think this - Could I do this FOREVER? Sure I can eat oatmeal for breakfast, twigs for lunch, and a slice of bread for dinner, but COULD I DO IT FOREVER? A month maybe - but forever? The answer is obviously NO! That is why diets fail. You can choose any diet you want, but while doing this, keep the snacks. Here's the catch. You need to limit them and this is easier than you think. First of all, let's do away with the snack machines at work. This is also easier than you think. Take all the change out of your purse or pockets and remove all the one-dollar bills. Leave these at home everyday. I repeat - LEAVE YOUR CHANGE AND SINGLES AT HOME. That was easy and you could do this forever. Here's why. If you love chocolate for instance - go to the store and buy a bag of snack-size chocolate

Phil bravely states that he will not tell me what I want to hear; he seems to revel in his “I call it as I see it; I will tell you the truth” philosophy. Effective weight control will never be “quick and easy”, but that is “doable”. His book espouses a philosophy that is brilliant in its simplicity. He includes a wealth of self-analysis in the form of assessments, timelines, goal setting, readiness profiles and action plans. His book incorporates concrete details for daily planning and food action plans, which include a specific system of meal planning that is widely used by dietitians and health organizations. He describes a divided-plate system for meal planning: ¼ protein, ¼ starch, and ½ low-calorie, high-fiber plant-based food—fruits and vegetables.…

    3-Day Diet Analysis

My current diet is a complete disaster. Because of my work schedule, I don’t get up until around 11:00am, so when I do wake I have a cup or two of orange juice which is what I consider to be my breakfast. On the way to work, I grab a hamburger and soft drink. Also, I sometimes skip the soft drink and get a Monster energy drink if I am still tired from the night before. I have to put Devion on the bus in the morning which leaves me very sleepy most days, so I use this as an excuse to grab the energy drinks to make it through each day. My day at work is really boring, so, my co-worker and I sit and eat to actually entertain ourselves throughout the day. One of my major obstacles will be to ignore her when she offers me some foods or snacks because she really likes to eat several different snacks throughout the day. She really gets offended if someone turns down her offer for a snack, but, I would really like to lose some of this weight.…

The diet I chose to look at was the 4 Hour Body Diet by Timothy Ferriss. Ferriss is also the author of the #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER The 4-Hour Workweek. More recently, he wrote the upcoming release of The 4 Hour Chef that is being banned from bookstores nationwide. I stumbled upon this book one day when I was browsing the internet for new and interesting ways to lose weight and Ferriss’s book caught my eye. Just reading the first page enticed me to read more. The 4-Hour Body: An Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex, and Becoming Superhuman, I thought to myself this has to be the biggest joke ever. I picked up the book and just reading the first page made me laugh “how to lose 20 pounds in 30 days (without exercise) on the uber simple Slow- Carb diet. At this point I just had to buy the book to see what crazy fad diet had just befallen me. when I got home the first page alone was disturbing Tim was describing how he just consumed almost two full-size barbecue chicken pizzas and three handfuls of mixed nuts, for a cumulative total of about 4,400 calories. That was only his fourth meal of the day breakfast having consisted of two glasses of grapefruit juice, a large cup of coffee with cinnamon, two chocolate croissants, and two bear claws. only 72 hours later testing his progress with an ultrasound analyzer his body fat had dropped from 11.9% to 10.2% in only 14 days. So what is Tim’s secret, he claims it is his little rules…

Oftentimes, people have trouble making the changes necessary to help them lose weight and sticking to them when first starting a diet. Crossfit Persuasive Essay

It’s something different, and there is a lot at stake. To the opposition, I say this, “Just try it!” I don’t have the means, time, or ability to run the necessary experiments and tests to prove unequivocally what you need to hear. “Just try it!” It’s not easy to break an addiction. Change is hard. It takes effort and a belief that the other side is potentially better. I tried it, and I can tell you that I have been blown away. The other side of breaking the addiction is not just better – it’s enlightening. My body is now properly fueled and has re-learned to use fat like it is designed to do, and consequently it has turned into a fat burning machine. Some of the improvements I did not expect; my mental clarity is unbelievable, my energy levels are consistent without late day crashes, I sleep like a rock, and my skin is glowing. I don’t think there is a one size fit’s all diet that must be strictly adhered to. Your diet should be experimented with and “scaled” to what you need. It’s not easy to switch from a low-fat, high-carb diet to a high-fat, low-carb diet. We have been conditioned for a long time to believe otherwise. Stop thinking of food as a reward – its fuel! Approach your diet like you approach the workout of the day (WOD). Focus on evolving, improving your food choices, and trying new things. There goes the bar…

The basic way of staying hydrated is drinking water. Doctors suggest a minimum of six to eight ounce glasses per day. However, those with more active lifestyles may require more due to heavier water loss. Other beverages may be consumed, although, they cannot take the place of water. Fruit and vegetable juices are beneficial, but could have too much sugar. Caffeinated drinks,…

    Metabolic Diet Essay

The great thing about approaching dieting this way is not necessarily having to eat less. Of course, you will still have to eat the right kind of foods, so do watch what you eat. One thing about traditional dieting is how the whole body goes into survival mode to preserve whatever calories and fat it has. This is especially true if you skip one or two meals. A much more effective strategy is to eat several smaller meals in a day, rather than the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner. This ensures the stomach stays satisfied throughout the day. There are a number of metabolic diet recipes you can try that you can refer to when you start cooking meals that are appropriate for dieting. Another mistake that some dieters make is skipping breakfast. Unfortunately those who do, tend to overeat later in the day and will likely suffer from sluggishness. By eating breakfast, this allows you to effectively jump-start your metabolism after having fasted overnight. This helps the body burn more calories throughout the day and avoid the sluggishness that is typically experienced by most dieters. Coffee is another key component that most adults already take advantage of. Coffee has long been known to boost the nervous system and keep it more alert and ready to burn more energy and calories.…

In order to improve my current diet, I need to reduce my caloric intake to the 1500-calorie diet recommended on USDA’s SuperTracker. The most efficient way to do this is to eat healthier meals at home rather than unhealthy, easy to procure fast food. In addition, I exceed my sodium intake with 2,016 mg on average, 516 mg over the recommended amount. Due to harmful effects of high sodium intakes on blood pressure, a prominent risk factor for cardiovascular and kidney diseases, the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine established the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) for Sodium at 2,300 mg. This indicates that I must lower my sodium intake as a precautionary measure (Higdon, Sodium (Chloride), 2001). Again, as mentioned above, the most proficient way to do this is by eliminating fast food out of my diet along with analyzing nutrition labels for high sodium content.…
