Waddle Waddle: The History of My Club Penguin

What came first? The penguin or the egg? That is the question.

Many of us have all had our own Club Penguin experiences. We’ve all spent countless hours slaving our way through the Pizza Parlor. Memories of trying to tip the iceberg are still roaming the back of our minds. However you spent your days, this game has left a lasting impression on your life.

It all started one day when my brother, Shaymus, and I were playing some random game on our favourite website, Miniclip.com. We were looking for a new direction in life. Dazed and confused in this lost world, we decided to try something new. At the time, we were nine and five. We saw this ad for a new game, Club Penguin. At first I thought it sounded stupid but Shaymus got this little twinkle in his eye that I still can’t describe. He looked up at me and I knew I had to click it. And so I did.

Coming up with usernames can be a struggle. It isn’t however, for my family. When in doubt, pick “Shaymus” and ninety-nine percent of the time it won’t be taken. We took the easy route for our name and chose that. We started off being a red penguin but we quickly realized that nobody liked red penguins and changed it to green.

Club Penguin took our lives by storm. We would spend hours upon hours doing everything we could. We became the Sled-Hill king; beating everybody that challenged us. We would spray people down with snowballs and take siege of the Snow Forts. Then there were the quiet times working as a waiter at the Pizza Parlor or maybe even playing piano for the customers.

My first time meeting Rockhopper was a day to remember. Days before his arrival we stood on top on the lighthouse and looked over into the water and saw this large boat floating towards us. When he docked, we jumped aboard his ship. He gave us some loot; a pair of boots, a shirt and a whole lot of coins.

Time flew by.

It was a crisp spring day the birds were chirping and the bugs were buzzing and my brother and I, at the age of 10, were playing around in the backyard of our house. All we were doing was just playing around in the backyard having a fun time being normal children as always. Then I came up with this perfect idea to play hockey because since we all love hockey. So we wouldn't work garage I got a plastic baseball bat and my brother got a wooden baseball bat plus a whiffle ball.…

    A. Main Point #1: First, you need to think about how the name sounds when hearing it aloud. i. Sub-point sentence: In order to avoid any questions, when deciding on a name, think about your child’s point of view and imagine how he or she will have to live with it throughout their life.  Supporting material: Laura Wattenberg, a writer, researcher, and software designer, wrote in her 2013 book, The Baby Name Wizard, “we may see baby naming as an opportunity for personal expression. Use whatever criteria you like to narrow your name choices, but give the name this final test: if you were starting life today, knowing everything you know about this world, is this the name you would want to represent you?”…

Selfishness, jealousy, envy and greed. These are the images portrayed by the characters of 'The Club'. In essence, they are driven by self-interest, willing to compromise personal and institutional integrity for personal greed and gain. All six characters demonstrate this in one way or another - from the obvious egocentricity of Jock and Gerry to the seemingly loyal and unfaltering Laurie: firstly in his previous ploy to eventually oust Jock and then…

The Boston Tea Party started at midnight on December 16, 1773. More than one hundred colonists called the Sons of Liberty threw about forty five tons of tea from British ships into Boston Harbor. This “protest” was a very justified act that showed confidence, determination, and bravery. Others believe that the act was unnecessary and the colonists went overboard (no pun intended) with their behavior, even though the colonists didn't even damage the ships at all. This whole thing probably wouldn't even have happened had Britain successfully sent the tea boats back like they did in Charleston, Philly and New York. The tea that those boats brought was being taxed among other things, so there is no wonder that there was anger towards those boats not being sent back to Great Britain.…

    Penguin Creation Myth

In the beginning, before the age of mankind, birds were the favorite species of the gods. All birds lived in a vast plain with lush trees as tall as sky scrapers. Grass, green and fresh, spread as far as the eye could see. The great gods adored these winged creatures more than any other creation. One group of birds they especially admired: The Penguins. Their intelligence, distinct colors, and general gracefulness of their nature intrigued the gods. However, the penguins were also known for their cunning acts of foolery. For instance, whenever a god came close to talk to a penguin, or simply to admire a penguin, the mischievous bird would immediately fly away to another part of the world. This made the gods feel foolish and frustrated, creating anger. One way the gods tried getting close to the penguins was by distracting them with shiny pieces of jewelry and metal, because the gods knew that penguins were fascinated by things that were glittery and bejeweled. On some occasions, the penguins would brazenly fly away and hide for a long time, whether it were for days, weeks, months, or even years!…

I was supposed to be named Rachel. It was a compromise, my mother told me, from what my dad had picked: Raquel. Growing up, I had a friend named Rachel that was nothing like me: soft, composed, and the sweetest smile. As it is hebrew, the name comes from the biblical name meaning “O Beautiful One” or “female sheep”. While this is nice and all, it was much more fitting for my friend. Never could or would I pick the animal the sheep to describe myself.…

It all started with this very simple question, “Do you want to move to Florida?” When my mom had asked that, we had just came back from our spring break vacation in Florida. We lived in Kentucky and my siblings and I went to St. Albert, I was in fifth grade. Of course when my mom said that my whole family thought it was a joke, so we all had said sure to the idea. About a week later, I forgot about the question, so after school one day my parents had told me and my siblings they had a surprise for us. Little did I know that we were actually moving to Florida.…

Even though I wasn’t your typical toddler, how could I have been so stupid? I may have been an utterly curious rug rat, maybe even more. However, once an idea popped up in my pint size brain it stayed there….Until I tried it. Most things weren't terrible. They were just average ideas that most toddlers think of. Just like they say in the commercials, “Kids discover the world with their mouths.” Another example of this is like biting the table because its looks like a humongous cookie. In most cases this was true. In my case, it was a little more extreme.…

It was a nice day out this one summer afternoon, so my parents invited my family over for a barbeque at our house. I come from a big Mexican family, so it was a good thing we had a really big backyard. I am the youngest grandchild out of eighteen, the oldest was forty-one and I the youngest was seven at the time. The closest cousin to me in age at the time was eleven and I always tired to hangout with my older cousins. On this summer afternoon my cousins and I decided to build an obstacle course thought out my house to see who could run it the fastest. We made it start from my front yard and it weaved through the living room, my sister’s room, my parent’s room, then out the back door where it ended. My parents are the…
