A quote I’ve learned to live every day by is said by the great Helen Keller. “Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the eye.” I’ve learned to stay strong in every situation I’m put into, when necessary. Past experiences and challenges have shaped my ability to perform different tasks and to value opportunities and education that is given to me.

My education has always been a very important factor in my life. It’s my key to freedom and to a better life. Living in a single parent home can be a challenge at times. With a teacher salary and three kids it has made me realize that I am capable of doing bigger and better things. Education is a privilege that some tend to take for granted, but I know that my education is an investment for my future and certainly not something that I will waste. My educational goals have always included college and pursuing a career in nursing by getting my bachelor’s. I’m an

    My Life so Far

Compared to many people in the world, I can say that my life hasn’t been too upsetting or harsh. Everyone eventually runs into some kind of speed bump in their path of life. Everyone faces some kind of problem everyday, whether it be something as small as spilling your coffee or as devastating as losing a loved one. Through these problems and struggles, I’ve learned many important life lessons. First, I’ve learned that silent company is often more healing than words of advice. It is better to just have a shoulder to lean on or just someone there to listen to you vent your bottled up emotions and feelings, rather than someone trying to blurt out every piece of peppy encouragement they can think of. Second, I’ve learned that even if I have pains, I don’t have to be one. I don’t understand what the point of bringing someone else down is, just because you aren’t feeling your best or aren’t in your best mood. Third, I’ve learned that taking a walk can cure most problems. If I feel a little chubby after eating, I walk some of it off. If I want to get out of the house, but not spend a dime, I go for a walk. If I’m stressed out and need to clear my head, I go for a walk. Fourth, I’ve learned that blood really is thicker than water. I’ve had friends come and go all through out my life, but the only people who actually stick around and support me are my family. Whether it be through sports, school, or life problems, my family is always there for me. Fifth, I’ve learned that every single person who walked into my life has taught me at least one thing. From teachers, friends, coaches, and even ex-boyfriends and silly crushes; they’ve all taught me something whether it be something good or something bad. Lastly and most importantly, I’ve learned that I still have a lot more to learn. If I’ve learned anything in life, its that I know almost nothing. I’m still young and life has many more lessons to teach me and I look forward to them…

It is in these tough times that we must look at the bright side, focus on what we can gain out of the challenging position in which we find ourselves in. We have to stop in a world that never pauses. We have to freeze in an ever flowing waterfall. We have to disembark a never slowing train; we have to step back and find a positive, no matter how hard that may seem.…
