Pd. 1st My Advice Throughout my high school years, I have been through many obstacles that has shaped and improved me to help me be where I am today. I had jobs that I worked at until Midnight, and still had to come home and complete homework. I have risked receiving good grades for more rest. I have taken on extra responsibility knowing that I could not handle it. However, I have surmounted each barrier that has been placed in my way. If I were to look back on my high school years, the advice I would give to someone beginning their high school career is to complete their institutional credit as soon as possible, do not get caught up with negative influences, and most of all stay focused on maintaining good grades and a high GPA. As a student beginning high school, the student might want to finish all of his institutional credit. Institutional credit is a sum of 120 volunteer hours that must be completed in order to graduate high school. I would advise any student to start and finish his institutional credit within his first year of high school, because as the student gets promoted to the next grade the workload begins to increase and become more difficult. Also, the student should want to get a jump-start on completing his/her volunteer hours because he/she will not have time to scramble around at the last minute searching for places to help him get a total of 120 volunteer hours. Lastly, if the student beginning high school completes his institutional credit early he/she will have more time to focus on getting a job to help pay for his own expenses. In addition, to the student completing his/her institutional credit, I would also encourage the student to stay positive and remain clear of negative influences.
