Select three adjectives that describe you and explain.
If I were to select three adjectives to describe myself they would be common words. I would pick something like artistic, and funny, but the words need to say something deeper about me. So instead, I decided to look for a list of adjectives. I wanted to find something that could say enough about me. Blithesome and passionate seem to be a good match, but of course I get stuck on the third one. So I sit here at my desk and text my long term boyfriend of four years. “If you had to pick one word to describe me, what would it be?” I ask. I press send and wait eagerly.
As I wait, I think about what everyone always says about me. If you asked Mr. Moore, my counselor, he would say that I’m strong. He always told me, “you’ve made it this far, and that says something”. To myself I think, sure I’ve beaten all the big bumps on the path I’m walking, but there’s plenty more ahead of me. Since my boyfriend can’t think of anything other than being “loving” or “beautiful”, which isn’t going to get me into college, I decide to pick determined. I’m still walking my bumpy path right?
Determined means of unwavering mind; resolute; firm. I think that fits me. I’m very determined to make something of myself. I don’t want to end up being a single mom who can barely afford to take care of her children because she didn’t go to college. I will be the first of my immediate family to get through college. I want to make a better life for myself. A nice house, that doesn’t have ugly green carpet. The ability to paint my walls the way I desire. I am going to make it, one way or another. I am going to be the girl who I want to be.
Blithesome means lighthearted; merry; cheerful. For the most part, I am light hearted. Some might say I’m juvenile or maybe that I have a bubbly personality. My mom would use the term, free spirited. I really am happy most of the time,
