I Want To Become A Therapist
Throughout my life I've always had to be better than everyone else because I had it harder than everyone around me. Being from a low income, single parent household presented a lot of challenges. However, my mom instilled in me at a young age that college was the best option to make something of yourself. I always wanted to be successful in life. As a result, that one piece of advice stuck in my head from the time I took my first seat in elementary school up until my current days in high school.

My life has always been a struggle from not being able to afford school supplies one year, to not being able to afford school clothes the next. I never let my disadvantages stop me from achieving my future goal; getting a scholarship from the college

It brought me closer to many other minorities like myself who have it hard every day. Hearing everyone's story's made me more aware of the world we are living in. This experience shaped me into a fearless young woman and gave me much inspiration. Looking back at all the experiences I went through from financial difficulties, to my father passing away, then troubles in school made me realize exactly what I want to do in life.

I found myself desiring to be a child therapist. Looking back at all the stressful situations I had to deal with alone made me wish that I had a helping hand to guide me through most of my troubles. Being a child therapist can be my way of giving back to society and helping children who want to become better. I'm someone who indeed has flaws, but I won't let those flaws define who I am as a person. I aspire to get into the college of my dreams and graduate. Then I aspire to go far in my career choice of becoming a therapist. I won't let anything derail my path in

My ambition and fighting spirit has kept me going through the years. What sets me apart from everyone else is the passion I have to achieve my dreams. I may not be the average 4.0 student that many colleges look for, but I am a strong individual with great qualities. I am seeking to achieve the American dream that I believe I have earned. I have overcome so many challenges, and I learned from each and every one. If given the chance at this opportunity, I won't be a disappointment because I will succeed no matter the obstacle

In complete honesty, I have lived a privileged life. I am provided with diverse opportunities, ranging from being home-schooled to the Catholic school I currently attend. Everyone has their hardships, and I certainly had my own, all were shaping and forming me into who I am at this point. I can honestly say my particular perspective has been remarkably determined by Kent Bellows Mentorship Program. It forced me to realize the opportunities I have been granted, take my passions into consideration, and most importantly, it shaped my aspirations and made me work for them.…

It has impacted me personally with the struggles they overcame to achieve equal rights. Also, it helped pave the way for segregation, and allowed civil rights advocates to continue the fight to end racial discrimination and segregation during the 1950s and 1960s. As a Hispanic, I can relate to the struggles they encountered with racial discrimination which still continues today. Additionally, I have to surpass anyone else to manifest my worth, similar to what the Tuskegee Airmen did in World War II. The typical stereotype for Hispanics is that they are labeled to be uneducated because they are not able to speak English fluently. I don’t feed from that stereotype, and was taught by my enemies their language, religion, and in my own way have used the negatives into positives. Just how African Americans didn't give up on becoming the first military pilots for the military, I haven’t given up on my dreams either. I will not let the negativity on how others view me based on my race bring me down and will continue to accomplish my goals. In conclusion, the Tuskegee Airmen were able to prove others of their capabilities and that with time and actions, positive change can occur which has inspired me to continue to…

The diversity in the United States has helped me to better understand and relate to others in ways that I may not have in the past. I have learned much from this class and about myself that there is still discrimination and prejudice in the United States. I have learned that I need to take the time and to get to know a person before I make any judgments against them. There are so many different kinds of people in the United States with the different backgrounds. We do not need to discriminate against anyone until we can look at ourselves first to make sure we are clean. We need to look beyound the core of there skin and what they are wearing, and the way they talk. Since this class I have steped back and looked around to see how people act with each other some get along just fine then you have the few that you can tell are uncomfortable. I have learned that everyone needs to be treated as equals it does not matter what your age, race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability. We just need to all get along and to educate others.…

It made me feel appreciative for the things that I do have, like a roof over my head and food on the table every night. I may not have the most expensive jeans, or the newest iPhone, but I have everything that I need, and it was all given to me by someone who works a minimum wage job, and works very hard at it every day so our family can have the things we need. I feel as if growing up and seeing what it is like to live on a minimum wage has made me more of a determined person, it has only made me want to strive and try harder, so I can have better things for my kids than I grew up with. If you are always given everything you could ever want, you don’t ever learn how to appreciate what you…

According to Michelle Akers, “I think the challenge is, to take difficult and painful times and turn them into something beneficial, something that makes you grow.” Just like every human being, I have had my fair share of challenges to face. My parents were born and raised in Mexico. Being from the type of family both my parents had, education was not an option and no importance was taken toward it. They both dropped out of high school and began to work in factories to help their families with financial problems. They realized how hard it was to earn a living and to maintain a family without a proper education. When I was four years old and my sister was nine, my parents made the decision to send us to Brownsville, TX for a proper American education.…

I always strived to do the best that I can, in everything that I do, and this especially applies to academics. In 6th grade, I joined the honors program at my middle school; from then on forward, I made sure than my work was of high enough quality so that the following year I would be placed in honors courses. These courses are what I believe prepared me for my success in high school. I got a taste of what it was like to be in an environment where every pupil was hungry for an education and for knowledge, and I grew to want to learn as much as my classmates. I entered high school with courses that upperclassmen had that challenged me more than anything else had before. It was during my freshman year of high school that I realized that I couldn’t…

Both of these successes are the two greatest accomplishments of my high school career. These two achievements prove how dedicated I was, and still am, to getting the best education I could.
