Monologue Of An Immigrant

I wake up every morning and thank God for keeping my family safe, and letting the men in my family see another day because cops are out here killing men like them if they look or move the wrong way.
The world is filled with anger and pain from the past. I can say that I am no longer like them I have accepted it and moved on. Although I am not ignorant to the fact that my great great grandmother was raped by her owner and had 4 children for him. When she died my great grandmother had to take care of her brothers because she was the oldest but only 16.I am not ignorant to the fact that my great grandfather was killed by a white man. They left him on the side of the rode to die there and never be found. Another good Samaritan took him to the hospital. At the hospital, he laid there for hours in a hall where he had still been left to die. When my great grandmother found him he laid there stiff with his skull cracked open to where you could see his brain.
That has taught the women in my family to be strong and independent.
I am not ashamed to say my family worked countless hours in the hot sun so that their family and the generations after them could have the life we live now.
It has made me who I am today a proud, intelligent, strong, and thankful person. It has given me the opportunity to see the world through a new perspective.
The past has been ignored because people are too afraid to relive it. The past only happened for greed and power. I am thankful that I am not ignorant to the
