Three days before prom an assembly was called to strengthen the awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Instead of just lecturing the students Mr. DeAngelis used his own life experiences to teach and guide the students along the safe paths that still allowed for occasional goofing off.…

When or before the attack Dylan and Eric didn’t call their parents that they are going to do an attack in the Columbine high school or even told them that they are practicing how to shoot. Also there is no evidence that the parents know because the parents got under an investigation because about what their sons did. After the attack the teachers didn’t call the police so they can see why they did that. Also the parent did know because they want to know why their children did that. Who are they working for? And also what are they doing every day?…

This perspective looks at how we encode, process, store, and gain information. Both Dylan and Erik hated their school with a passion, not just the jocks in the school but all the other kids that just bothered them. Now their thought process was that they wanted to be remembered as heroes or Gods for the crimes they commit. Along with that they both made a conscious choice, or decision that they were going to try and destroy Columbine at all cost because of all the harassing and bullying they went through. In everybody’s mind Dylan and Erik’s rationality was obviously skewed. Both students were killing their own classmates and teachers because they were bullied or treated unfairly which is completely irrational. The cognitive perspective is a key factor in showing us how these students were thinking and planning this…

With the death of twelve students and one teacher, it was to be the deadliest mass murder committed on an American high school campus. The Dark Night of the Soul The Dark Night of the Soul by Richard E Miller has been written with a main point always in mind, that reading and writing has very powerful influences people and their imagination but, the act of reading and writing is not being utilized as much in the modern world. Richard has created an essay that proves his point by taking five very different short stories and giving each a twist that helps the reader see the power of reading. As the reader is chronologically going through the essay he or she is given many possible meanings of the essay. The meaning and the relationships that the stories share are not revealed until the last page of the essay. The essay begins with the story of two distraught high scholars named Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. In this story Miller really shows us the power of imagination. The feeling of being lonely drove them to the point of becoming violent. The boys went on a rampage. Miller also uses the example of Chris McCandless to further prove his point. McCandless threw away his life and went out on a journey to live by himself in the wilderness because of the stories he read. Miller wants to transmit to us that reading and writing have very powerful influences in people and their imagination, but he believes the power of reading and writing is not being utilized as much in the modern world. Through the examples he presents in the Dark Night of the Soul he tries to show different perspectives of reading and writing so that the reader realizes that both are really powerful realities which can have a big influence in someone’s…

This makes the mood more intense for the reader and the misfortunes are felt. The tone of the text is very mysterious, ‘several and unexplained deaths’, it engages the reader’s thoughts to find out what will occur after the ‘strange…

Why did they do it? Could it have been prevented? For something like columbine to happen there has to be something mentally wrong with the people who did it. You don’t just wake up on a sunny day and say hey let's go shoot up a school. I would say it takes at least a year of planning to plan something of that size. Many times before the actual day of “judgement day” as they called it dylan and eric would be caught stealing and having dangerous weapons by police, teachers, and their own parents. I really don't know how much trouble someone has to get into before they figure out that they are not going to change and only worse things can happen before they get into big trouble, because they never really got into just a lot of trouble like jail time they always got out of it and i think the longest they were grounded was for a month.…
