Topics related to culture and religions values have been subject to complicate the issue in U.S. public schools. Therefore, the English colonists oblige their language and culture on Native American, but the natives American resist the changes. In the twentieth century, civil rights movements have changed minority lives and give them the rights to practice the freedom in public schools. The immigration has caused multicultural education in schools and made the condition complicated to deal with it. When English colonial forced their language and culture in the schools, leaders who descend from minority groups felt the oppression and decided to advocate for minority rights in schooling. Thomas Jefferson was one of the first leaders who advocated for strong correlations between popular education and a free society (Anderson, 1988, P.1). Civic literacy was an essential component of Jefferson's plan. The public education has save the rights for every child in the U.S. In addition, minority have the rights to practice their language in the school because schools today give classes for all students to learn another language such as, Spanish, or French.
