The days of common sense being the rule to abide by in the work place has long gone away because of the many laws, rules and regulations that have arise. The sad thing about this whole situation is that the reason for many of these laws and rules and regulations is because most of society has lost their common sense. People today have no idea how to show respect and courtesy whether it be because of color and race, or because someone has a disability, or have made a choice that those around them don’t understand nor do they respect. A good example would be the creation or should I say the necessity for those in power to create an act to help govern or regulate those in the work force such as the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Americans with Disabilities Act was created in 1990 and signed into law by George Bush senior. The Americans with Disabilities Act was created to help with a big range of civil rights issues. This act helps those who are disabled and are being discriminated in the work force, this act prohibits employers from denying a disabled person a job based on the fact that they are disabled and helps those already in the workforce that are being discrimatinated due to their disability. These disabilities can range from physical to mental problems or disadvantages. If those in the work force could learn to look at a situation then pause to examine the best way to take care of that situation and show respect and yes have common sense then there would be no need for a act such as the Americans with disabilities but those in the work force not all but some have no respect or faith in those around them and think if you have a problem then you can’t complete the job which isn’t true. Honestly from my experience those who I have come across in my path during life that have a disability are usually stronger, more determined and harder workers and sadly those who have no disabilities or problems are nowhere
