approach to the situation turned out effectual in reuniting east and west Berlin.
Another communistic instance of a divided country is Korea.
Korea was split in two along the 38th parallel by the two superpowers after Korea became an independent country at the end of world war 2. When communist north Korea crossed the 38th parallel invading democratic South Korea, the Koran War arose. After three years of constant fire, and not much progress of total control over both countries, the war came to an end. Even though there was no winner in the battle between communism and democracy, the United states was able to restore south Korea back to its democratic state. Americas approach on the Korean war could be seen as ineffectual, since the US was not able to extinguish communistic infiltration, and ended up in the same place where they
started.
During the Cuban missile crisis, the United states and the Soviet Union were on a brink of a nuclear war. When soviet missiles in Cuba were spotted, fear of a possible attack from Cuba arose since the US and Cuba had tense history due to the Bay of Pigs. President Kennedy chose to approach the situation through peaceful means, and with great caution. The ultimatum of the negotiations was that soviets will remove their missiles in Cuba, while the united states also removes their missiles from turkey. It could be said that we were successful in the prevention of a nuclear war, as well as reducing the communistic power of Cuba.
Throughout history, America has had several encounters with communistic infiltration. During the Cold War, Russia [being a communistic country] aided many countries, allowing its communistic roots to grow throughout the world. Several battles of democracy versus communism highlight the key reasons of the Cold War. Instances of communistic deputes in Germany, Asia, and Cuba could be seen as the most memorable battles of communism and democracy.
