Communities and its Problems
The community that intrigues me the most is the Indian community, even with those vibrant cultures India certainly has been going down in standards amongst the eyes of the people, mainly due to the fluctuating crime rates. Though there are varieties of crime the ones most evident are Human Trafficking, Corrupt Political systems and Robbery/Assault. The following paragraphs explain in detail the listed crimes. Human Trafficking can be defined as "the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labour or commercial sexual exploitation" as stated in the oxford dictionary. The point i am focussing on is "sexual exploitation" commonly known as rape. The whole world was shocked with the event that took place in december 2012. As claimed by the "Hindustan Times" a leading newspaper agent said that a "23-year-old had been raped in a moving bus by four people for about 25 minutes on Sunday night, and doctors who attended on her said she seemed tohave been beaten with a blunt object and sustained injuries to the stomach and intestine". Such revolting action stirred much anger and for the whole of the following week continuos protests took place to find the accused and with much pressure the judge gave them a death sentence the most surprising fact is that non of them were past criminals. Delhi was given the name rape capital in 2005 where it experienced a record high rape rate of "660" a year molestation equally competing reaching a record of "653" in 2011.The reason i chose this topic is mainly because rape not only takes place in India but in other countries. India being our neighbouring country my family and i make frequent trips and also since we are hindus we visit our native temples, every time i pack my bags i double check the clothes i take since i have being a victim of the nasty comments that the men there make if you wear anything above your knees, its disgusts and angers me but at that moment i have no choice

Over the past few decades, sex trafficking has become an extremely profitable and sophisticated industry. It makes profit by devastating and humiliating the lives of innocent victims by using them as sexual objects. By doing this, the sex trade strips its victims of both their dignity and humanity. According to Iris Yen (2008), human trafficking affects every country in the world. This means that there is not a single country, including the United States, that is completely safe from sex trafficking. Theoretically, it can affect anyone in the world, which makes it such a large scale social problem, while still remaining an appropriate example of what constitutes deviance. In order to get a more focused scope of sex trafficking, the following questions must be answered:…

Even though anybody could find themselves a victim of trafficking, women are especially in danger of being targeted. Adult women are the most frequent victims of human trafficking (Cullen-DuPont). Traffickers often exploit the lack of women’s rights in less developed countries to make a profit. In certain cultures, particularly in countries like India, Nepal, and Ghana, they believe in ritual slavery, where young girls become sex slaves to make up for the sins of the family (Human Trafficking). These girls get no say in this, and they're treated more as merchandise than as human beings. Furthermore, women are often unable to seek aid after escaping because many of them are arrested for prostitution and illegal migration (Cullen-DuPont). The fact that they were not given a choice in the matter is overlooked. Human trafficking is an especially inhumane act because it takes advantage of pre-existing injustices, such as gender inequality, and uses them to further victimize…

Trafficking in persons refers to the illegal trade or "sale" of human beings for sexual exploitation or forced labor through abduction, the use or threat of force, deception and fraud. It knows no gender, race, age, or even boundaries (due to globalization). (Perkins)…

A misconception about human trafficking is that to be considered a victim of human trafficking movement must be involved. Victims are prey to enslavement and exploitation at the hands of their human traffickers. Human trafficking can take place anywhere; there is no exact definition to its practice (“What is Modern Slavery?” par. 2). Also, no age limit is given to its many victims: children, youths, and adults. Most though are uneducated and vulnerable making them easy targets to Human Trafficking (“End Slavery Now” par. 1).…

This passage reminds me of the scene where Napoleon steals the milk and apples from the animals without asking in Animal Farm. Similarly, in The Book Thief, Rudy and Liesel are also stealing vegetables from many farms. However, the reason that Napoleon steals the milk and apples is because of his greed, while Rudy and Liesel are stealing to "extend their thieving repertoire" (Zusak 161). Also, from my interpretation of this passage, I feel that the law enforcements are not strong enough to stop thievery at that time in Germany because, if the law enforcements were powerful, then Rudy and Liesel wouldn't take the risk to extend their thieving…

According to the International Labor Organization the estimated annual profit from the sexual exploitation of individuals is 32 billion dollars (ILO, 2005). Because of the high profits and the low chances of arrest human trafficking is a common business that happens all around the world; it takes place in developed and developing countries. A lot of organizations, like the United Nations and the National Human Trafficking Resource Center have addressed the topic of human trafficking, but communities and agencies need to be more alert and aware regarding this topic. Adding to that, adults and children must learn to protect themselves from becoming victims of human trafficking. Human trafficking is by no means one of the worst and traumatic experience for a human being Individuals and societies need to do a lot more to help victims of human trafficking, by providing accurate information and facts regarding human trafficking, by addressing the needs and necessities of the victims, and by giving them opportunities to overcome the traumatic experience they have been…
