The program addresses the holistic preparatory needs of transitioning adults on the autism spectrum. The typically age range is between 18 to 25 years, with inclusion from individuals within all racial, ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic demographics. The task at hand is to develop an instructional design model utilizing diverse methods, strategies, technologies, and media to create unique learning opportunities within a distinctive and flexible learning environment, and maximizing the eclectic strengths from multiple designs. The basis of the design will center on specific interpersonal communication needs of students entering the program as determined through analysis of the initial interviews with prospective students, and assessments of existing evaluations and provided social profiles. The design will be employed within the program’s actual learning environment, engaging learner in an active setting.
